DME without a flight?

We will be getting off a cruise in Port Canaveral (not DCL, sadly) and going to OKW for 2 weeks using our DVC points. I'm guessing we cant take the DCL bus from the port so we plan to shuttle to MCO and then take DME to OKW. Is that allowed? Or do we need a flight number to book DME? Can we give a fake flight number?

Yes, it's allowed. Disney doesn't care how you get to the airport. You could find a flight that arrives around the same time you'd like to depart the airport, or just call and tell them you're not arriving to MCO via plane.

I had to fly into Alabama for work a few years ago. Rented a car there and drove to MCO and rode DME to our resort. Not a problem. Just picked a fake flight with the time I'd make it to MCO. They do not check nor care how you got to MCO.

You don't need to create a fake flight. I do this all the time, because we rent a car coming from my son's house. We drop the car off at MCO and take ME. All they need is your resort reservation number, thats it, in order to book the bus.

I dropped a car off once (ended up staying later than anticipated but brought back the car anyway) and just went to the DME desk and they said "youre dropping off a car, right?" They've definitely dealt with such things before.

One point to make though....Why would this be the best option? Transfers from the port to the airport are not free. If you have to pay for transfers why not save the hassle and pay for transfers direct to your hotel?

For our trip in particular we aren't coming from a cruise, we are coming up from Lauderdale. We have rented a car but we were lamenting on the fact that the only time we would get to ride DME would be leaving, which is sad haha
