I use an ECV at the World, and use the airline's wheelchair around the airport. No problem going to WDW last trip--a WC was waiting at the gate upon arrival and my kids pushed me down to DME, got out of the chair onto the bus and off we went. Going back, the DME bus dropped us at the lower level of MCO--in other words, it was deserted. Not a soul around. My family had to go in search of a WC for me. I was just told by my TA that I have to arrange for my airline to pick me up with a WC where the DME bus drops us off? Does that sound right from what you veteran DISers know? Thanks.

we have never used wheelchair service because DD has her own, but arranging it thru the airline does sound correct.

Yep, you only get the wheelchair service if you tell them a specific place usually or meet a skycap or other employee at a regular entrance. Next time also carry a cell phone and call the airport if they are not serving you.

I avoid off hours in airports because at LAX it can be empty at 4 am and not even one skycap around.
