DME tags on carseats?

Bringing our carseats, as we will be renting a car later in the week. We are taking DME to our resort.

Can we just check our carseats with our luggage and put DME tags on them? Will they transport them to the resort for us? If not, we can always gate check them, but it would be a lot easier to just check them with the luggage.

DO NOT check your car seat! Luggage is handled very roughly. Having your car seat thrown around will make it unsafe to use.
