i thought i understood how DME worked... what we were to do and where to go and how to get there and all that... but when dh asked me to explain it to him last night, it just did not come out clear... is it true that the passengers and our luggage are transported separately? we do not have to fetch our own luggage, even if we are flying SWA?

would someone that is "in the know" walk me thru every step of landing at mco all the way to arriving at our resort? (i.e. will we still have to take the airport "monorail?" what to look for? etc)

thanks in advance... i'm not usually this dense but i think i stayed up too late last night packing, and then woke up at 4am this morning thinking it was departure day but we're not leaving 'til 4 tomorrow! :rotfl:

Okay here you go....you will get off your plane and use the airport monorail system to the main area of MCO. You will then go to level 1, to the DME check-in desk. There, one person is your party will get in line and check in with the CM. They will note your arrival, stamp your bus vouchers and head you off to the bus lines. There, a CM will direct you to the proper line for your particular resort. Then onto the bus and off to the resort. There you will check-in, and maybe, maybe not, be able to get into your room. Meanwhile, your luggage has been taken off the plane and put in a different truck. This is based on your using your yellow tags. If you don't use them, you will have to claim your own luggage and then either take them with you or have DME transport for you. But, I'm assuming you have your yellow tags.
You most certainly may use DME when flying SW. Just be sure to pack a carry-on bag with anything you may need for the first few hours of your stay. We have been lucky and gotten our luggage within 30 minutes of getting into our room, but others have not been so lucky.

On the return trip...flying SW means you will have to transport your own luggage. Not a huge deal. If you want to checkout of your resort but still do stuff either in the parks or at your resort, you can leave your bags with Bell Services at your resort. Then you can return and pick them up about 30 minutes before you are supposed to be at the DME bus area for the trip back. The bags will be stowed under the bus.

Anything else you need to know, just ask. have a great trip!!!

OK - one other question - if flying a participating airline (Delta Song), do we put the yellow tags on when leaving the resort? This was something I've been wondering about.

Thanks

The yellow luggage routing tags are only for your flight to Orlando. They give the luggage handlers at the airport, the luggage truck drivers, and the bell service at your resort the information to deliver your bags to your room.

For your flight home, the folks at the Resort Airline Check-in desk will attach regular airline baggage tags to your bags, as though you have checked in at the airport. Song participates in Resort Airline Check-in.

:worship: thank you thank you thank you! :worship: you are my hero! i like knowing in advance how things are going to go... i feel so much more equipped that way! LOL! (i know, i know, i'm a geek! LOL! )

i have dh/ds flying w/swimming trunks instead of shorts and dd/i will carry out swimsuits in our carry on... don't think we'll need anything else before our luggage arrives... and yes, i already have our yellow tags which i will afix to our luggage tonight :goodvibes
