DME question

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Here's the deal. We have DME scheduled to our resort upon arrival. We got a great deal on a rental car from MCO. Do we all have to travel on DME for them to take our luggage to our resort, or can I go pick up the car and drive it to the resort while my spouse and kids ride in DME comfort?
