DME Question

We used DME last April when we spent the night before our Disney Cruise at the CBR. We had no problems with DME. Our luggage arrived close to the time we arrived at the hotel. I was able to access it in the storage area at the resort long before my room was even ready.

Anyway, we are traveling to Disney again in June and I"ve been reading some comments on these boards about DME, both pro and con. I am surprised at home many con comments have been made, which is giving me second thoughts about DME this year. My main conern is about our luggage being sent to the right place. I suggested to DH that take our own luggage from baggage claim then go to DME and use the bus service.

Just wondering what people's expereince with DME has been and if you think I should be worrying or not.

BTW, our flight arrives at MCO on Sunday June 24th at 9:30am which I'm guessing is a slower time for DME.

No reason to worry. Millions of people have used DME and been satisfied. Nothing has changed since you yourself were a satisfied customer.

Have there ever been complaints? Sure ... no system is perfect. Also, some people have unrealistic or competely uninformed expectations, like people who think they will have instantaneous access to their checked bags, people who believe the luggage should beat them to their rooms, etc.

Let's look at it another way. Have you ever seen any threads titled "DME did fine with my luggage?" Of course not. It's not noteworthy when things go according to plan. Consider your own case ... YOU didn't start such a thread after your last trip, either. So it makes sense that most of what you read is about problems.

The other thing is I read MANY threads like yours, threads in which people haven't actually had bad experiences but have only read about bad experiences. So many of those threads abound that they sort of take on a life of their own, even though such threads don't report actual problems, only anxieties.

It was either Carrot Top or President Frankiln Delano Roosevelt who said, "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." Good advice, no matter who said it.

I wouldn't worry about it. We ued ME twice and we're using it again next month. We've never had a problem. Is it possible that your luggage will get lost? Sure, but it's also possible that the airline will lose it. I'm sure that won't stop you from flying. Since you are getting in early, you'll have the whole day for your luggage to arrive. Just make sure you have anything that you need for the first day in your carry-on (which I'm sure you already know). Have fun!
