DME or Rent a Car

I will be at WDW solo for 4 nights for the DIS 20th from 5/31 - 6/4. I currently have both DME and a car reserved so I need to decide which option I'm going with soon. Here's what I'm debating about:

1. Staying at Pop during a week I'm assuming is going to be fairly busy at WDW so I'm thinking there could be a wait for a bus at certain times, like park closing.
2. The current rate I have on a car, a Drive Happy deal with Alamo is pretty good at $105 plus what I would spend on tolls and gas. Having a car would also enable me to stop for a few groceries.
3. I would still bus to MK most likely.
4. I'm thinking the car might be handy to get to the various DIS events that week?
5. I did want to try going carless for a trip, and hopefully try Uber/Lyft when I wasn't using the bus. Maybe I should save that for a trip during one of the slower seasons when I normally go though.
6. If I have time, I might want to head to either Disney Springs or the outlets to do a little shopping.

Which way would you go and why?

Both. We use DME to get our luggage to Board Walk and rent a car to get groceries as needed and to drive to AK and Raglan Road.

That's a terrific price for a week. I would go with the car.

(I still drive to MK. It's not as convenient in the morning but so worth it to me at night)

As it looks like there isn't transportation provided after the event on 6/1, I'm thinking I'm going to go with the car. I may still try to send my luggage with DME so I can head straight to the parks on the 1st day.

I will recommend the car if you are planning to go to any of the mini meets they are planning, since if it's anything like the Mega Meet they were at different places around property and having a rental car for that made it easy when there was only an hour between some of the mini meets.

That's sort of what I was thinking even though the full schedule hasn't been announced. I just rebooked the car and it's now down to $98.

That is a great price for a car. We always get a car. We enjoy the flexibility of it. I think you will also and as you are solo too. You get free parking why not!

We do the same thing. My DW and DD's take ME to the resort. I rent a car at MCO and meet them there. We drive everywhere including MK. At end of trip we all drive straight to MCO.

I'm starting to do both! I take dme to my resort, letting them handle the bags. Then I rent a car at the Dolphin. I found it was half the cost renting there vs at MCO for my next stay!
I like to have the ability to grab groceries or just drive to a different resort.
