DME luggage tags--tied to vouchers?

Hi,

I just perused the DME luggage tag sticky, but please forgive me for not reading all 53 pages in my quest to find this answer!

6 members of our travel party will be flying into MCO and using DME. The other 6 of us are driving and not using DME. Since our room reservation is for 12, we were sent 12 yellow DME luggage tags, each one labeled with a different name. Can the 6 who are flying use both their own named tags PLUS the tags for those of us who are not flying (if they have more than 1 piece of luggage per person), or are the tags somehow tied via barcode to the voucher that they will present at the check-in counter? I wouldn't want their luggage not to be transported b/c the barcode does not match up with a checked in DME passenger, in other words.

I know we can call and order a second set of tags, but since we already have 6 extra, I'm hoping they can be used.

Thanks!

Tied to the voucher isn't the problem, but the number of checked bags that each passenger is allowed could be, depending on what airline they are flying.

If it is SWA, 6 passengers are allowed a total of 12 checked bags at no charge, so knock yourselves out. If it's Airtran or Delta, then I hope that you drivers have generous friends, because checking your bags as well as their own will cost them beaucoup bucks.

The airline will not care what names are on the yellow bag tags; they go strictly by their own tag srips, which are tied to the passenger name on the ticket. Once bags with yellow strips arrive at the MCO bag rooms the airlines tags are ignored from then on, as they are all sent directly to the Disney sorting facility.

When the bags arrive at WDW, the bags will be sent to the room of the party whose DME tag is on them. They will not be delivered until after the party checks in.

Bring all the booklets (or copies thereof) with stubs or matching bar codes that went with all the yellow tags you did use, so the CMs can to inspect the bookets at the Magical Express welcoming area. (You will need to keep track of how many bags went under which booklet's yellow tags.)

Nope, not a problem at all. I have done that myself in the past. As noted, be careful with those checked bag fees though. But, I'm sure you know what your particular airline's policy on those is.
When you get to DME checkin area, they will want to see your voucher....one for each person who is riding the bus. They aren't going to care about anyone else's vouchers...you aren't riding the bus, they don't care. Vouchers are NOT tied to luggage tags. They will scan your voucher and very possibly ask how many bags total were checked. Then off to the bus line you'll go.

Thanks everyone! They are, in fact, flying on SWA, and I doubt they're going to check more than one bag per person (heck, I don't even know how two adults are going to manage luggage for themselves and four small children), but wanted to be sure just in case.

The only possible issue I can see is if people are staying in two different resorts/room locations.

Let's say the flyers are numbered 1-6 (Flyer1, Flyer2, Flyer3, etc). The drivers are also numbered 1-6 (driver1, driver2, driver3...). The drivers give the flyers their DME bag tags. Flyer 1 checks two bags, one with his tag and one with Driver1's tag.

If Flyer1 is staying at the Contemporary, but Driver1 is staying at the Poly, one of Flyer1's bags will end up at the Poly (because they used Driver1's tag).

This is only a minor irritatation if everyone's rooms are nearby, slightly larger if they're at the same resort but spread out, and could be a big hassle (IMO), if they're staying at separate resorts.

I hope this makes sense.
