DME Luggage Question

I have always in the past checked one bag with the majority of my clothes and stuff, and have taken most of my lotions and stuff I don't want to wait for in my carry-on. Obviously, this is now no longer possible. So my question is, if I check two bags, my usual one, and then a smaller one with suntan lotion, and a change of clothes and stuff, would I be able to put a DME tag on one for them to pick up and take to Pop, and would I be able to get the other one myself right away. I'm only asking beacuase, I need suntan lotion, I'm very pale, and I don't want to get stuck buying it in Florida, where I know it's more expensive. I definatly want to use DME, since I feel it's efficent, and, let's face it, it's free. But with the new restrictions, I feel I'll need to have to get to some of my checked stuff right away. So is it possible for me to get one of my bags, and DME get the other? TIA.

Yes, but if you're going to spend the time waiting for your small bag you might as well not use the luggage tags and pick up both bags.
