DME Kidani questions??

We are arriving at Kidani in 4 weeks and are using DME. However, when we stayed at Jambo at the end of August I was really disappointed as Jambo was the 4th stop!?! Is this normal? It took us over an hour from when we got on the bus to the Jambo lobby.
I noticed that there was a separate DME line for Kidani. Do those DME buses go right to Kidani, or are there previous stops?
We are arriving at MCO early and want to meet family at the MK that day. If we decide to forego DME and take a cab to MK, will our bags still go to Kidani if we have the DME tags? It seems kind of pointless to go all the way over to Kidani since our room will not be ready at 10 am (most likely) and we would pretty much be just turning around and going to MK...

Thanks!

Your bags won't go anywhere if you are not on the bus with them.

We have taken DME to Kidani several times, and each time the bus made two stops prior to arriving at Kidani. In our experience, the bus most typically stops at Pop Century and then CSR before arriving at Kidani Village.

You can collect your bags and take a taxi to the resort. Check the bags with concierge desk and hop a bus to MK. It will cost$$. Depending on time of year, number of people going to a resort at one time, they change bus routes slightly.

I was so excited to think that I wouldn't have to collect all those suitcases, and could just head straight from the airport to MK and have the bags there when we get back to the hotel. All that "work" is going to cost us 2 hours...I am only wanting to rush b/c some family will be there, including my 6 year old daughters favorite (same age) cousin, and they will only have barely 2 days together.

I am considering sending my wife along with my two girls to MK while I take DME. But then will my wifes bag make it if she isn't on the bus??? UGgggg...decisions.

I think as long as you go on DME, your family's bags will be going with you. I remember being asked "how many bags" but I don't think they always ask.

They don't ask anymore. I was just there and they only scanned my barcode. I asked him if he was going to note how many bags I had. He said they don't do that anymore. :confused3

The lines just help them sort people. It doesn't mean that Kidani has a separate bus. They fill the buses with the people who show up, based on general locations, and create the routes dynamically. How many resorts your particular bus will stop at is up to the luck of the draw.

Was there in September we went to CBR, Pop and AKL Jambo and Kindani.. in that order. Yes, it took over an hour. We did claim our luggage instead of sending with DME because we didn't have the tags. Yes, I know they could of claimed them but it all worked out well.

:) That is why DH and I do not take DME. We always use a car service, get a grocery stop and ride straight to Kidani. I guess on vacation we need instant gratification. I think you get to watch a video or something on the bus which sounds cute. I just talk our driver to death....bless his heart.

Just got back from a stay at Kidani and used DME. We must have just missed a bus...we waited 1/2 an hour to get on a bus, and we were the 4th and last stop after Pop, CSR, and Jambo House. We got to Kidani around 8:45PM. The good news is that 15 minutes after we got into our room our luggage arrived. Definitely too bad we spent so much time waiting/riding...our plane arrived 40 minutes early...I think we lost all of that extra time.

DME back to the airport, the bus picked up Kidani and then Jambo house, then on to the airport.

Because of a last minute change in plans when we went in August my DH and I rented a car and DD and DGS took DME although we all came in on the same plane. All luggage arrived safely in room even though DH and I were not on the bus.

So I wonder, if we put DME tags on our luggage but none of us actually show up for DME, will they even know? Will our bags make it to Kidani? With all those bags coming and going do they even cross reference who checked in with ME and who didn't with the inventory of bags? If so, how would my wifes bag make it to Kidani if she never checks in?

So this sort of makes me think that if we put DME tags on the luggage, they will get to the resort regardless of whether or not we check in for the actual bus.

You can check in at DME and not board the bus...we did that one year when we were impatient and just wanted to get there...the line wasn't moving so we exited and grabbed a cab...ME delivered our luggage just fine...don't know if they would had we not checked in, but I would suppose they would...

Good luck!

I thought the checked luggage was a separate service (or contract with Disney?) than the DME bus.
I think there are cargo vans that show up at resorts, or is that just bell services?
(Although the only time I used DME, I just had a carry-on that was loaded under the bus)

I stayed at AKLKV last September and it took us about 45 minutes to get to our room using ME. That was probably in large part because the bus was pretty empty. We went to Pop Century and the Caribbean Beach Resort first, but it was pretty quick. If you're going in 4 weeks, that would be a slow time of year, so I'd guess your bus should be pretty quick. However, the bus back to MK will probably take you another 30 minutes.

Since the luggage is a complicating factor, what might be the quickest would be to take ME to the hotel, and then take a cab to MK. Do you have tickets in hand? If not, you'll need to check in at your hotel anyway. If you're going to a park on a day that there are extra magic hours, you would need your hotel room key for that.

Just some thoughts!

Thanks Benny! I am going to call MS today and just see what they say about us putting the luggage tags on our bags but not actually showing up for DME. I find it very hard to believe they cross check every bag with check-ins. If for no other reason, why would somebody put the tags on their bags if they didn't want them going to that resort? What's to gain?

This is talked about often on the transportation board.
