Does anyone have experience with a late arrival? We usually arrive in the morning, take DME to the resort, and head to,the parks. Our luggage is there when we get back, so I have no clue what time it actually arrived. This time our flight lands at 9:00 pm. Any ideas what time the luggage may arrive if we choose not to retrieve it ourselves?

It's still the average 3 hours post landing...so you should count on around midnight. We've had bell services deliver at 1:00 am before.

Close. Up to three hours after you check into your resort; or you can ask to have it held until morning.

Since you are arriving so late, I would suggest you pick up your luggage yourself, then head to Magical Express. Otherwise you may have to stay up late in your room, just to wait for your luggage. Better safe than sorry.

If you are getting in late I think it is more convenient to pick up your own bags and bring to resort on the bus. Then you won't have to worry about what time they might try to deliver them to your room.

Also, if your flight gets delayed like ours did once (arrival after 10pm) then you HAVE TO pick up your luggage and bring to the bus. CM at DME check in will ask if you picked up your luggage. The pickup service at the airport stops and even the bags with yellow resort tags are dropped on the carousel.

I think it depends on where you are staying and how busy they are...
We've actually seen our luggage beat us to the resort!! We were getting off of ME and they were already unloading it from the luggage truck! I mean really! :rotfl: I wanted to just say "Hey, can we just claim that now??" But I knew they couldn't do it that way. So we just laughed that it was there before us and headed to the front desk to check in. They were knocking on our door about 20 minutes later with our luggage. :thumbsup2 I'm sure that's not the norm. But we usually don't have to wait 3 hours for ours... Again, I guess it depends on where you stay and how busy they are and how much luggage they have to process. :)
But to me, the BEST part of ME is NOT having to schlep my luggage with me. That's a big part of why I use ME!! :thumbsup2

If you can't pack enough immediate needs items into a carry on for your situation, or if it's just something you are going to worry about needlessly, I'd strongly suggest grabbing your bags before hopping your DME bus.

Otherwise, I generally pack any 'immediate' needs for my arrival night in a carry-on and just let the luggage arrive in it's own sweet time.

I always pack one carry on ( the size the airline stewards use) with 2 days worth of clothing and PJs and bathing suits. I also bring travel size toiletries. That way, we have everything we need. Especially if our luggage gets misplaced which has never happened.

A lot depends on the resort you'll be at. If you're at Pop, or another value resort, your luggage could take a very long time!! The value resort luggage delivery system is slow at best. So, late at night, it's downright unreliable!! If you arrive at your resort at 10-10:30, your luggage may not get to your room. The value resorts don't do a lot of luggage delivery past 10pm..if they do, it's very sporadic.
If you are at a deluxe resort, or DVC, then your bags should get to your room within 3 hrs of resort checkin...could easily be sooner rather than later.

If it were me, and I was arriving at 9pm?? I wouldn't tag my bags, and I would then go to baggage claim and get them myself. Yes, it would add about 20 mins to my overall time, but I would have them with me, and I could unpack and go to bed!!

I am wondering if there is someone to help you with your luggage after you get off of the ME? I would like to check-in have dinner and then go to the room to settle for the night. I'm staying at the AoA, in the Little Mermaid section.

Bell services was waiting to meet the ME bus when we arrived last week for our LM stay. They took our carry ons while we went to check in and grab a bite in the food court, then delivered them to our room later.
