DME and parttime resort guest?

Thanks everyone. Since no one knows about the extra adult room charge, I will try calling the GF. If it can be refunded for days after the friend leaves, then it might be worth decreasing our ticket days and adding her to the reservation ahead of time. I will also call Mears and just ask if she can ride the DME (doesn't hurt to ask). If not then we will probably simply be prepared for her to take a cab. She is older than my mom and has never been to WDW and of course, we told her we were WDW experts and would take care of everything ;) so I hate to have her waiting at the airport or anything.

And yes, we definitely thought of putting a DME tag on her bag (my mom and I can pack in one bag), and that means that one of us, probably me will have to ride the DME while others take the taxi.

a friend of ours joined DF and I 2 weeks ago when we were in WDW, and he came in around midnight on our arrival day (we had gotten in at 11AM). We added him at the front desk, they waived the fee, and then we got a call at 11:45PM that he was at the DME counter and he wasn't on the reservation. When we added him earlier in the day, the front desk gave us his room key, so they did add him in some way, but it didn't work out quite right.
It is possible that with such short notice adding him to the reservation, you might have needed to go down to the front desk at 11:47 PM and have the desk clerk or the concierge call DME at the airport to get things updated.

Unless the DME welcoming CM decided to jump to conclusions and jump the gun and put your friend on the bus before you could get to the front desk.

I dont know if i'd consider 13 hours "short" notice, but in our case, our friend just took a cab in the interest of time, and set up his DME return information 2 days before he departed, since he was leaving before us. It wasn't really a big deal, he didn't care about taking a cab, it just didn't work the way it has in the past. We've been able to add people who came in as little as an hour later with no problem in trips past. Just one of those things where it didn't work quite right in this case, but in all honesty the cab was faster and the $60 he paid was worth it in his mind to get him where he needed to go hassle free.
