DME and late night arrival

We'll be using carry-on only so we don't have to worry about our bags. Do they typically have to wait for one bus to fill up and then it runs to all resorts if you arrive late at night?

How late? We arrived around 9pm last January, and had only a 10 minute or so wait before departing for our resort. We stayed at the Contemporary (farthest resort from the airport), yet only stopped at two resorts before ours. It took the normal amount of time that Magical Express usually takes.

I wouldn't worry in your shoes. Flights come in late evening all the time. There should be plenty of other families arriving at the same time as you. Even at 9pm in late January, our bus was quickly packed even though it only serviced 3 resorts.

I've had one really bad experience arriving late and one very good one. And a few that were in the middle somewhere. The very good experience was last year and it was just over an hour before arriving at the resort. The very bad one was it taking 2 1/2 hours.

I am glad to see this post...For people that have arrived later in the evening, how long do you typically have to wait for your checked bags to get to your room? I had read the DME will transport bags for flights landing prior to 10pm and after that you have to get your own. If that is true, I am slightly concerned about our bags not making since we are schedule to land at 9:40. This is our first time landing late w/MDE...typically we do an early morning flight.

Disney aims to have your checked bags to you 3-4 hours after you arrive at the resort. If you have anything you need right away, put it in your carry on bags. All meds, a change of clothes, toothbrush, that sort of stuff. The rest, if you don't want to be bothered waiting up for it just tell the front desk to hold your bags. They will keep them until you call down for them. I also put the Privacy Please tab into the door for good measure.

Chalk me up to bad experience. We had a late flight and waited over an hour in the bus.

There are always going to be exceptions. Can't plan for them.
But the goal of ME is to get all guests on the way within 30 min of their checking in, or when the bus is full, whichever comes first.
No matter if you land at 12 noon or 12 midnight.
