:confused3 I wonder if anyone who has stayed at the Hotel Cheyenne or knows its layout can help with the following questions:

Today l bought a copy of "A Brit's Guide to DLRP" by Simon Veness (the new edition doesn't come out until 3 weeks after we return from DLRP unfortunately, so it's the 2004-2005 one l bought). Re: Hotel Cheyenne rooms, on p66 it says "Blocks 17-19, Sitting Bull, Wyatt Earp and Billy The Kid, are closest to the main building and the bus stop for the free shuttle". Can you (is it worth doing so) request your room to be in a particular block? I made our booking approx. 3 months ago. Would l be able to now request a particular room location? If you are staying in one of the blocks nearest the main building (assuming that's where the restaurant & bar are) are you likely to experience noise/disturbance at night?

We are staying at the Hotel Cheyenne with our 2 children (aged 9 and 2 years). So as regards the 2 year old it would be handy to be somewhere nearer the restaurant, shop & shuttle stop. If you are near the main building does that mean you've got much longer a walk to the theme parks/disney village if you decide not to take the shuttle? Is the hotel quite spread out? There seems to be 14 blocks of rooms, 1000 rooms in total, so that's around 70 rooms per block if they are all roughly the same size. What are the numbers/names of the blocks in the middle of the layout.

Basically what l'm trying to say (and taking a long way to say it) - Does it make much difference where your room is located? Should we just take pot luck and find out where we've been allocated when we arrive? Or does anyone have recommendations for good room locations?

Thanks for reading all this, and thanks for any info/insight. :confused3

Possibly but I don't think they actually allocate the rooms until you check in. They'll give you a map of the layout of the hotel and you can then ask for a specific location and I'm sure they'll do everything possible to put you where you prefer to be.

The saloon bar is open quite late but as far as I remember there aren't any rooms really close to it - they're all in separate buildings from the one which houses the bar, shop, restaurant etc.

The walk to the park goes from the back of the main building.

It is quite spread out but it's not huge like the hotels at WDW if you've been there. Only a few minutes' walk from one end of the hotel grounds to the other.

I can't find a map of the layout and don't know the names of the blocks but someone who's stayed there more recently might.

I think I'd wait and see - you can always have a look at the layout when you get to reception and request a particular block but I don't think it makes much difference as far as walking distances are concerned.
I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time - the theming of the Cheyenne is superb.

Thanks diberry for your helpful (and fast) reply. Wasn't expecting any replies so late, so double thanks. Better get myself off the DIS dis board now - the aforementioned 2 year old will no doubt be up bright and early in the morning as usual!

Many thanks.

Here's a map of the Cheyenne buildings - this is what you get given when you check-in. We have stayed in Wyatt Earp, Sitting Bull, Cochise and most recently Butch Cassidy - as you can see from the map! Wyatt Earp and Sotting Bull were closest to the main buildings but Coshise was closest to the parks - Butch Cassidy was our first time in the further away part of Cheyenne but it's still just a few minutes from the main buildings.

oooh I love these quick and detailed replies - makes my trip planning so much easier!!!! :teeth:

Steve you are a mine of information!!! ::yes::

crm scotland, if you are travelling with a two year old, last time we stayed there we were in Annie Oakleys, we found it ideal for the laundrette [which is free, just remember to take some persil tablets or such with you], the play area which was just across the road and in the morning when we got up there were pony rides and facepainting along the track between sitting bull and annie oakley. Apart from that all the rooms seemed handy to me and there wasn't much difference in their layout................it was a really lovely place to stay, and I really liked the smaller blocks, it felt like a little village rather than a big hotel!

I don't think it would do any harm to contact the hotel 3/4 days before you are due to go and ask for a specific building.
They will not make any guarantees but it is worth a try :)

:earsgirl: Thanks everyone for your helpful replies (once again). You don't make me feel like an idiot for asking these questions (even if you're thinking it). So cheers - you're all Disney VIPs in my book.

Thanks dlpSteve for the map of the Hotel Cheyenne layout. The main building is in the middle,so l'll do like like diBerry suggested and wait and see, l'm sure it will be fine now that l have seen the layout.

As you probably realise, l'm really looking forward to our trip (more excited than my husband and 2 children put together). Hubby and 9 year old don't mind me doing all the planning (and are pleased that l do), they just don't want to hear about it beforehand - same on all our holidays.

Incidentally, anyone going with young children to the Hotel Cheyenne soon - Marks & Spencer have got great cowboy & indian pyjamas in the sale just now - £5 for a pack of two pairs. I got some yesterday for my 2 year old. PJ tops would also be fine as daywear (don't look like PJs). Cowboy ones have a sheriff's badge, necktie and holster design on them. Indian one - indian brave war paint and tomahawk design. Pity they only do them in kids sizes!

As l've said on another thread this DIS Dis Board is the most helpful and friendliest forum l have ever used. Since l started using it recently l have became an even bigger Disney Fan.

:sunny: Thanks again. Roll on days to Hotel Cheyenne. Yee-ha!

Great tip, thank you - do you think they would have them on the internet - we don't have M&S up here!

That's the nicest thing you could possibly say - thank you!!!

Great! Answers to all my questions about the hotel Cheyenne even without asking!
Travelling with a 3-years-old this information is very useful.
Thanks a lot. Now the only problem is what to pack... we went to the park the first time in January, and it was very cold. At the beginning of March it may be cold as well.

BTW, I miss M&S! Two pyjamas for just 5£...

Hi Magamago,
We are going to DLRP - Hotel Cheyenne from Tues 7th March -Sat 11th March, 2006. I posted a thread: DLP - Weather in March and rec'd a few replies. Seems weather in March can be varied: :sunny: :umbrella: :cold: So we are going to pack warmish clothing, thinking in layers, light longsleeve tops, maybe one t-shirt each, couple of sweaters, fleece/bodywarmer, outer rainwear such as kagools, woollen hat, gloves, scarf - that can be folded up easily, and l suppose an umberella between us (which hopefully we won't need).

First time l went to DLRP was at the end of January 1993 and it was absolutely freezing. Possibly the coldest l have ever felt. I spent loads of time in the shops and arcade on Main St. and went round It's A Small World 3 or 4 times one after another - there were no queues - just to keep warm. This was nearly 13 years ago and l still recall it. Makes me :cold: thinking about it. Hopefully, that was an exceptionally cold January. By the beginning of March - we are there from the 7th - 11th - it should be quite a few degrees warmer than the normal Jan. temps. A little :sunny: would be nice too - here's hoping. (Been there also in October and it was dry and sunny - t-shirt weather).

Ahahah, the first time I went to DLP, was January as well! I now recall when exactly, 30/01/2000, was cold and a bit showering (oh, my English is rusty, and I may sound funny), the park was damaged by a sort of hurricane just before that 2000 (in December 1999, if I don't make a mistake), as well as Paris was.
Anyhow, coming from England, we didn't notice any difference about the weather :teeth: I've found some picture taken at the park, for example, the one taken on the Big Thunder mountain, I look frozen!
I will be at the park in March this time, arriving just a day after you, what a coincidence! But this time coming from Rome.
Can't wait!

Magamago, hopefully the weather will be a bit warmer for you in March! :sunny:

Right, I noticed that dlpsteve offered a layout map of cheyenne in an earlier post.

I really need a layout map of the Disneyland Hotel for our stay next week, apparently to email someone though you have to have made ten posts...

so here is number 8

number 10. right now I can email you dlpsteve.

Oh and by the way, why do I have to wait 40 seconds between posts?
