DLRP anyone?

WOW thanks everyone!

Someone mentioned a guide book for DLRP? is there one? I've gone to Borders & B&N and haven't found one yet! THat's exactly what I need!

I did just get the Frommers guide to France and Fodors as well...so I'll be reading....

http://www.amazon.com/Brits-Guide-D...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1248032322&sr=8-1

This is the one I have, which is very well written (but everything is in British pounds rather than American Dollars) plus it has a great section on Paris.

They also have an Unofficial Guide version, which I use for WDW, but not for Paris, which may be good!

LOL thanks for the compliment about knowing my stuff Kate, but you've given a pretty comprehensive list of tips!!
Tho I'll echo what some have said and say that I always stay onsite (in reverse to WDW where I always stay offsite!!). Our favourite hotels are the Sequoia (especially in winter) and the New York where we stayed on our last visit.

I've not been since last may and am sneakily trying to persuade DW to go for New Year again this year.

I'll join in any help here, and think that the Brits Guide linked above is a must read even for a non-Brit (the author is a moderator on the uk board I think?) and I've had the Brits Guides for WDW and now New York (I'll be there in a week and a halfs time!!!).

Best of luck and enjoy DLRP :)

hi Tia, sorry I'm a bit late but I haven't been posting for a long time, anyways I went to DLPR for the first time this march, I stayed at an affiliate hotel called L'Elyseè Val D'Europe it isn't on Disney property but you still get Magic Hours and you have a bus (free) hotel-DLRP, if you don't want to spend a lot in a Disney Hotel I must say this is a great choise, a simple hotel, cheap, great french breakfast and you still got the trasportation. It's 30 seconds awaya walking from RER station so if you plan to go to Paris is great because you have to ride only one train from RER station to Paris.
I stayed 4 days and I could do almost everyhting, and big advice do CRush n' coaster it's awesome and unique!
If you have any other questions let me know about it, I'm glad to help although I don't have Luke and Kate experience on DLPR, I do what I can :).

Thank you for such great info!!!

I think I may have to re-think the whole character meal/meeting thing. It's one of our favorite things to do at WDW and DL, but...our time in France is going to be limited. We will spend the first 4 nights in Toulouse because of the competition...but we will have plenty of time to explore that city as well as some surrounding areas...then we'll head to Paris for 4 nights...I think I may only be able to devote 2 days to DLRP.

In DLRP they have characters that wander around the park as well as ones you can queue to see! I would be wary about the surge you get when a character is around - some people can be a bit pushy and you can find kids under your feet so be careful not to knock them down :scared1:

We had lunch at the Lucky Nugget Salon where they have have a buffet - very good food and a nice range - a show - a bit noisy but entertaining - and characters - the seating is kind of like a theatre, in the stalls there are tables and in the wings and balconys it's more like a long bar with chairs. We found this was a fairly quick meal and in March was a nice break from the cold and windy weather :goodvibes

We have done the New York Hotel and Sequoia Lodge - I prefered the former. The Sequoia Lodge is ok if you are in the main building but we had a really long walk to our room - the furthest building and the end on the long hall :faint: - not much fun after walking to the park, around the park and then back again! Also the hotel felt a bit old and in need of a refurb, esp. our room!

New York is a bit closer and I prefered the themeing.

The one thing that bugged me was that going out of season the parks closed quite early and there wasn't much to do in the evening, also the only option to eat was McDonalds (unless you wanted a table service meal).

Just be warned that the prices are really high, worse than London prices IMHO for similar food.

Is it just me or people in DLPR doesn't do any type of line (only if required) to take photos with the characters? When I went there, there wasn't any type of line and as I am 20 years old I didn't want to "push" in order to get a photo. so other than in the characters meals... I couldn't get any photo with the characters,... because everyone was in a sort of circle with all their kids but there wasn't any type of order of who was next, they all pushed:confused3.....

So tia my advice... do at least one character meal (like Cafè Mickey)... if you want to take some photos with the characters :)

They do have organized areas for photos, mainly mickey and minnie on main st and their 'caravans' in the studios :)
There are also a lot of wandering characters free for alls tho

Coming to this thread late ;) Congratulations to your daughter.
Having just returned from WDW all I will say is plan for plenty of time at the Disneyland Park. You will be blown away by the detail and beauty at DLP compared to Magic Kingdom :goodvibes

Very true! As you may have seen I got a lot of photos with characters on my trip because of 2 reasons: 1) We went out of season 2) I pushed, plain and simple. I tried doing the nicely nicely approach, but when a lot of kids (and adults) push in front, you realise that the way we do things in England and America isn't the way they do things over there. The worst was for Captain Jack (who I waited for 10 minutes prior to his arrival) who was just swamped by kids and a character assistant who didn't care. He did a great job, but was literally being pushed up against a fountain, so take care. They also don't have the same need for personal space, which is a cultural thing, I had a lot of kids standing almost on the back of my heals in queues, which I found awkward, but they didn't seem to mind. Not a criticism, but an observation.

We didn't have too much of an issue with the parks closing early (except the lack of fireworks) due to my cold, but we found in the evenings after we had looked in every shop in Disney Village, there wasn't a lot more to do than head back to the hotel. If I hadn't wanted to be in bed early because of my cold, this would have been much worse!
