Folks:

We're headed to DLR in aobut two weeks and have an opportunity that I'd like to get some thoughts on. This is an impromptu vacation to celebrate our anniversary, so we are doing on the cheap to some extent. (We already have done a DCL cruise as our vacation this year and have one planned for next year as well.)

We are currently booked at BW-PPI for the AAA rate of $103 per night. I saw here that the military special covers the dates that we will be at DL, so we have the option of doing the DLH at $129 per night.

We have always stayed off site to economize and are thinking that it is time to spend the extra dollars. I just want to make sure we're not missing some expense that will push us well above what we want to spend.

BW-PPI
Pros
Free parking
Continental breakfast
Distance to the main gate
Ability to go off-site for less expensive restaurants

Cons
No extra hour
Not Disney

DLR
Pros
Disney
Neat pool for kids
Goofy's kitchen for meals?
Extra hour on Sat and Sun
Wake up call from Mickey

Cons
Pay for parking?
Limited to in park restaurants ($$$)
Distance to front gate seems about the same as BW-PPI
$20 more per night

I'm probably over thinking this, but please help us decide.

Which hotel at DLR is it? That's a big factor in this. Also the breakfast BW is pretty bad. We've stayed there a few times and eaten the breakfast once. It was a lot of smallish danishes and things that didn't taste all that fresh. And avoid Captain Kidds like the plague.

I would do the DLR for that small price difference! There is a resort fee that you must factor in, though, and you also have to pay tax on the resort fee :sad2: Still, there are nice perks and you aren't limited in restaurants. There are many in the resort, including DTD and the 3 hotels, and you can easily walk off site as well (we never do, though!). You just can't beat the atmosphere and since you have the opportunity to get such a fantastic rate, I would take it!

Well, it looks like I got teased into being worked up for nothing. My wife is on the phone with Disney right now and the only rooms they have available are at $179 a night. That's enough of a difference to cover our meals for the day, so it looks like the Best Western continues to be it! (But we may avoid the breakfast based upon the good advice here ...)
