DLR ride review: finding nemo submarine voyage

okay so i haven't seen any ride reviews around so i was going to start a series of the DLR rides...

NAME: Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage

Average wait: 30- 45 mins (depends on crowd)
requirements: must be able to walk down spiral staircase, need to sit in 1
seat.(if not ask a CM)

Summary:

the que line is not interactive at all. the most exciting thing in the Que is talking to the Cm's or listening to the monorail rumble over. use this ime in the que line to totally clear your mind of all anticipations for this ride. but once you finally get to the front, prepare to wait 5-7 minutes. when your asked to, you walk into the submarine.

once you walk in, you move down your row until you hit the farthest seat you can get to. when you sit down it'll be another 2-3 minutes so enjoy the view of the main dock wall. but then you'll finally get the report from the captain to go ahead.

when you start moving, hold your breath and prepare to dive. yur window will be cascaded with bubbles. after 30 seconds of bubbles you come out into the corl reef. as your going through the reef, remember to wave high to the little girl from finding nemo scubadiving. then you'll go into a cave and this is where it begins.

you join in at the explorers song. then nemo and squirt decide to go on there own journey. as you follow them you run-in to crush in the EAC and the wonderful sharks with the great moto " guests are friends, not food"

as you move along you encounter the mine field( take a wild guess where the loud sounds come from.) also you catch up with the Jellies. after everyone is done having there fun your submarine will surface and then when you dock, you'll be asked to exit. come out with a smile on your face and go enjoy the rest of DLR.

Recommended Age Limit: any age ( there are loud noises)

recommended ride times: night time; it wo'nt affect the cave scenes but the coral reef will look pretty awesome.

fast pass/ child swap/ single rider line:NO child swap- N/A

Grade: B+
why? well the whole ride is awesome, but you feel sad about the CM who is controlling it. he just looks at nearly complete darkeness. they should make him apart of the show like the jungle cruise. the SFX are very very well done.

My family would rate this ride as a D-....they hated it & said they wouldn't waste 5 minutes in line for it. Sorry just a differing opinion.

My 2 boys also hated it as well. I give it a D- too, and it's not worth more than a 5 min wait time. Anything more than that is not worth it. I also give Innoventions a F-, and think it's another exhibit that is a waste of time. We were so bored within the first 5 mins of it, that as soon as we could make a discrete exit we did. Just my opinions.

You may also want to add a very important element that you have omitted:
There is the necessity to climb down stairs in order to ride in the subs, as well as the fact that those who are claustrophobic may not be happy down there. For folks that cannot go into the submarine, there is an observation room from which the entire experience can be enjoyed.

When was the last time you were on the submarines?

There is no mention of disabled services. There is an observation area for guests who cannot or will not ride. Disabled guests go to the CM greeter and they will be put in a separate line. Disabled guests must get down the stairs and onto the sub, there are no elevators or other aids.

Safety issues: Some guests may find going down the spiral staircase difficult. Also there is a loading platform that is lowered and when entering guests may have difficulty transitioning from the platform to an area with different types of steps. There are air vents which help guests avoid claustrophobia. Jump seats are used and the back is metal poles with the last seat on each row positioned over the stairs thus making for cramped quarters.

It is actually one minute of bubbles. As for kids it can be scary with the dark scenes but the sounds are not that bad. It is 15 minutes long give or take. I agree with the rating though. WOW Nemo but it is just a ride to me and not the greatest but my friend loved it.

Actually the driver of the submarine is above water and sees everything then enters the building part and has a nice view. He is never in total darkness and I can go over to another site and have one of the skippers come over and explain what he does see.

Width is a factor for people over 300 pounds as wide people take up that extra uncomfortable seat and very wide people as in cannot get through a standard doorway would have problems on the ride.

I would love to see a set of ride reviews but please get a spell checker so that your presentation is professional and readable. Sorry to be blunt.

thank you mechurchlady, thisn is my first ride review and i hopefully will be making more. anyways it was good constructuive criticism... for the people who thought the ride was horrible, you have to go into it with an open mind. you can't expect everything to have a certain way to them. you'll come around. for exampe many people didn't favor tommorowland when it first opened, now look how popular it is.

if any1 else could write up a review it would help me alot. i was then going to make a thread to sticky at the top with every single ride review for easy access... thank you for reading.

Nope, it was to original poster. I could smile and say everything is fine then let the original poster continue to make mistakes or I can show them things that they might consider putting in a report. It is hard to make a report let alone one that addresses the needs of many people.

I am disabled but would have to focus on things that make life hard for a service dog or a deaf person, I would have to consider what it is like to be 3 years old and suddenly be engulfed in darkness on the Pooh ride, how do men think, what about prudes, and so many viewpoints. I almost quit helping people because of mean people who tore my stuff apart instead of teaching me how to do things right or at least legible.

If you want my personal opinion I think the poster has the right idea, has the gumption to do this, and can with research and some learning evolve into a top notch reporter whose articles will be bookmarked and used for reference.


Now go out there and find some more rides to report on. I think you did fine for a first timer and with time will go far and I do not mean WDW, lol. A tip is to not include specifics like 30 seconds of bubbles because one driver may have to go slowly or in time things change. Paint with your words a picture for the reader. Scoot and come back with another report please.

And to the person who wrote me about my comments ought to walk in my shoes one day. I have SID and sensory issues and am a neurovariant known to friends as bloodhound because of my research skills so that is why I am trying to teach this person the right way to report effectively. Sigh.

We did go into with an open mind...... In 2008 the lines were over 2 hours & we were very disappointed that we didn't get to ride it that trip....so it was a priority this time. My kids love the Finding Nemo movie (they are 3 & 7) & they didn't like it. My older boys, like me & hubby are huge Disney fans & find fascination with the littlest of details. We took over 1700 pics during our last trip. The build-up for this ride was far more exciting than the actual ride itself. So thought maybe I should explain our viewpoint on it. If others like it that's great....I wouldn't want a ride or attraction to be a bomb at Disneyland.

It is great that you posted a review of this. We were working out our plan of attack and this was one ride we were not sure about wasting our time with. This is definately something that will help us decide! I think having these brief reports are a great idea. Awsome job!

If that were the case, why would the lines be that long? It must be more impressive than how she described the ride, right?

If one wanted the could totally thrash any ride especially Small World and Alice in Wonderland. For me it was a novelty that was taken away from me years ago. How many people get to ride in a real submarine. For many of us it was the return of something we loved and was dear and missed though few of us rode it more than once or twice in a life time.

The ride was overhyped on VMK and the media. Everyone wanted to try the new ride especially because it was Nemo. The ride was notorious for being a slow loader decades ago. Three subs go out with about 135 passengers and cycles in 15 minutes. It only handles 540 guests an hour unless they are running 6 subs and that still is only 1080 guests and hour compared to Small World, Splash Mountain and the Mansion.

As you see the lines are still long on pirates, small world and bobsleds, lol but thinned out for Nemo.
