DLR Dining. Biggest bang for your buck poll

So I love these boards because there are SO many opinions out there and this is a great place to get so many. I know everyone has their favorite place to eat in DLR and their least favorite place to eat, what about the biggest bang for your DLR buck?

Where do you love to go that you know everyone will get full and is totally worth the price?

What about the opposite? Where do you feel you get the LEAST amount of bang for your buck? A place where the money doesn't quite make sense for the amount/quality of food you get.

Note that I'm not necessarily talking about cheap vs expensive! (Tho I looove to hear cheap )

I was pretty surprised at how full I got from the Boardwalk Field Green Salad at Boradwalk Pasta & Pizza. The flat bread pizza there, though, left me still hungry.

The nachos at Whitewater snacks are huge and so good! Also the fried green tomato sandwhich at Hungry Bear, it's unique, filling, and a great bang for your buck! Even though I love them the corn dogs are expensive IMO.

You're the second person who has said they love the Fried Green Tomato sandwich..I'm REALLY happy to hear you consider it a good bang for your buck! It is ON the list

French Market has always been a great bang for the buck; and while I really enjoy the atmosphere of Blue Bayou, their prices are way out of line - virtually a bad bang for the buck

Loved the fried green tomato sandwich too, but my all time fav is always Ralph Brennen's. Their portions are very large and easy to share with another person. I don't think that their prices are outlandish either.

We just got back from DL and tried Troubador Tavern for the first time (little counter service right by the Princess Fantasy Fair). They have baked potatoes and are in the $6-7 range which is on the cheap side of the meal spectrum at DL. They are big and very filling. I had one that was topped with BBQ chicken and DH had one with bacon, cheese, and sour cream. They also serve one with broccoli and such. It was a nice warm meal that was plenty satisfying.

For counter service, I'd have to say that the Hungry Bear has the best food/biggest portion sizes for the price; for table service, definitely Carnation Cafe'.

As much as I enjoy Blue Bayou, the prices are kind of high in relation to the portion sizes...but everyone knows it's the atmosphere one is paying for, so it's ok...there are plenty of other places in the Park one can choose to eat.

I vote for Whitewater Snacks. Their nachos, like someone said are filling and easy to split. But even better, we like the chicken sandwhich with fries. They will cut it for you and sometimes DH and I will just split one. Sometimes DH doesn't want to split and then we are both really full if we each have one.

We've also found the burgers at Hungry Bear to be filling and tasty. I miss the regular fries though, so that's a point against it for me.

For us, I think dinner at the round up BBQ, (not sure if that is exactly what it was called) was a great deal. Hubby actually got full there, and had enough meat to last awhile!

That reminds me, if you want big bang for your buck for desserts--try the Round Up BBQ as well. We've gone a couple times just for dessert. They have a chocolate chip cookie bake (also a fruit cobbler or something like that) in a family sized portion. We first found out about it when we went and had lunch there, but were too full for dessert so we decided to try dessert by itself the next time. Yum! $8.99 for a skillet of 8 (small) warm chocolate chip cookies and 3 scoops of ice cream--a good amount for 3-4 people.

I think a good place is PLaza inn for the fried chicken! We got the adult meal, a salad and a desert for all four of us and we all were full...
Good idea about the Big Ranch BBQ about just getting dessert.. We were too full when we went for dinner, but the desserts sounded/looked good!

My vote is for anything in a bread bowl. Clam chowder, gumbo.......the soup plus the huge hunk of sourdough bread is VERY filling for 9.29. I can't finish it and my husband usually snags the large top slice of bread that doesn't touch the actual chowder for a snack.

We've also found the corn dog/French fry combo at the restaurant next to the Golden Horseshoe to be a decent value. The corndog is gigantic and it's served with a decent side of fries for about seven dollars.

We are new to the parks, but I'm always looking for a bargain when it comes to meals. So far, these have offered the most bang for our buck.

Best bang for our buck: Carnation Cafe. We always leave very full, including our picky DD4. The prices are comparable to some of the counter service places (hello, Riverbelle Terrace!), but we get a relaxing meal with table service. Add in the atmosphere, and it's a sure winner.

Another awesome value is Jazz Kitchen Express in DTD. Big portions, so we can share, and FREE DRINK REFILLS from their self serve station.

Unlike the PP, poor value for me would include the bread bowls (salads and soups) from Pacific Wharf Cafe. The line is always LONG (time waster), and the portions are small compared to what I'd get for the same price at either of the restaurants listed above.

Also, whether it's a good value or not, I'm always going to get a corn dog and a Mickey Bar!

I second the Plaza Inn Fried chicken. BF and I split it and are both easily full from it.

I think White Water Snacks is a great deal because pretty much everything there is splittable and the food is delicious. All of the hot dishes are made only after you order so they're fresh, and the prices are totally reasonable.

At DCA, Pacific Wharf Cafe is a pretty good deal if you order the bread bowl on the side. You get a large bread bowl (not hollowed out) that you can eat as a snack throughout your trip or take home. If the bread gets dry it makes great bread pudding! Ask for a bag to store it in and they'll wrap it up nicely.

If it weren't for churros mid-way after breakfast/before lunch... not sure if the meals we think are so filling, would be considered so filling.

We split 2 churros between our family of 2 adults, a teen, and a 9 year old - works for us to tide us over until lunch. (The teen and the Dad get the 'bigger' churro portion.)

Mickey Pretzel with cheese at the coke corner is a fav. of our 9 year old- it's what she chose for her birthday dinner, when she turned 9! It is nicely filling, and very tasty.

Bengal BBQ is worth a mention - although pricey - and I have to say not filling -it is really some kind of a bang for the buck. It is very tasty, and I don't care what it costs at that point when I smell it, I am goin' for it!

Carnation Cafe - loaded baked potato soup - would say- but CC is closed until summer for renos.

Edited to add: Worth noting, I think - for a fam. of 4, we ask for 2 large sodas, NO ICE, and 2 extra cups - far more economical than buying 4 sodas! Sometimes we will ask for the 2 free waters, instead of the 2 extra cups, and can use it to dilute the sodas, which are too sugary anyway.

At DCA, what is your fav. soup? Also - do you know if you get the same amount of soup if you ask for your bread on the side? Is the soup in a styrofoam container if you ask for it on the side?

The biggest bang for your buck meal for us is: Jazz Kitchen Express in DTD.....huge portions of good food. Always a must hit for us!
