DLR Concierge Level Rooms - Any Words of Wisdom?

Okay, so I am continuing to plan our trip in October (most people think I am crazy for planning "so far in advance" but as all y'all know, it is JUST AROUND THE CORNER as far as I am concerned).

So...we (my husband, my DD 5, my DS 3, and I) are staying at the DLR, Concierge Level. We got a great rate, and since we will be at the hotel a lot due to naps and early bedtimes, etc, it made sense.

My question - does anyone have any words of wisdom to impart about the DLR Concierge Level rooms (good rooms to request...tips and tricks...do's and don't's...wish-I-had-knowns...etc.?)

Make sure to request a room in the tower with the concierge room.

One better, try to get a room ON the same floor as the lounge. When we stayed there we were a floor lower, which just meant one more elevator wait...you can use the "express" elevator up and down from the lounge which is a super convenience, and if you were on the same floor as the lounge you wouldn't have to dink around with one more transfer.

As far as I understood it, ALL the concierge rooms are in the same building as the lounge but I have heard others proclaim their room to be in another tower...maybe they overbook? I can't imagine you would use the lounge very much if you weren't in the same building.

We're going in October too (13-18), but I could not get a good rate on a concierge room. It was more than $200/night more and I just can't justify $200 on drinks and continental breakfast.....

We've booked a one br suite with concierge in October, and have been told that there are some rooms in each of the towers. We have requested one in the same tower as the lounge.

We are going Oct 7-11 and I have tried twice to get a concierge upgrade and they keep telling me there are no upgrades available at that time.

*sigh* Keep trying I suppose.

I booked with Dreams Unlimited, and Katie has been fantastic in following through with my booking.

I previously hadn't had any luck with getting a concierge room through Expedia, so took on the advice of a couple of other DISers, and contacted DU.

Thanks for the advice. I booked our trip with AAA and have had her call twice (along with my own attempt) to inquire about the upgrade. When I tried calling they said that I wouldnt be able to do anything but rather the agent would have to do it. Ugh. She is great though. Guess I will keep trying.

A few years back (can not remember the exact year) Disneyland Hotel changed their concierge policy...why you ask...just about any room at the hotel could be concierge level and the lounge became overcrowded (wall to wall) people started to complain...so they changed the policy and fewer rooms are now concierge level...much more pleasent in the lounge...this is why it is much harder to book concierge...The lounge is in the Dreams Tower...most of the concierge rooms are located in this tower...but you can be in the other two towers and still have concierge...(not over booked).
When we book a suite...more then likely we end up in the Wonder Tower and still have concierge...it is not a problem at all to go to the lounge.

The best thing to do is keep trying for concierge...even when you are checking in...Sometimes the magic of Disney will happen...

just wondering what is so, great about concierge level? I have no clue on the benefits.
