I am trying to plan my first trip to DLR for Jan. 2011. It will just be me and two of my boys. Since I will be traveling alone, I would like to do as much research as possible to make the best decisions possible and feel confident that I will be able to handle flights/transfers/hotels/tickets, etc.

What are some good books out there about DRL? Guidebooks, history, any kind of book. I recently finished a tome about the making of the Panama Canal(since I am sailing to CA on the Wonder) and have no problem reading long, detailed books.

"Mouse Tales a Behind-the-ears Look at Disneyland" by David Koenig. I think about 15% of it is false. But it's an entertaining read none the less.

Well, I guess 15% false is not too bad.....;)

And my library does not have the Disneyland Encyclopedia :upsidedow I guess I will see if it is on Amazon.

I love to read and so does DS10-so we will be checking out all of these books and threads. Thanks everyone.:thanks:

I thought of a good one that will make the trip fun. It may not be best for a person who hasn't been, but if you know of it you will understand what I mean.

It's "Disneyland's Hidden Mickeys" by Steven Barrett.

Birnbaum's are always good travel guides. They have some coupons in the back. The 2011 editions come out usually in July.

Unofficial Guide to Disneyland
Birnbaum's for fun

If you are interested in history, Disneyland the Nickel Tour by Gordon & Mumford is one of the best. It has been out of print since 2000, so you may need to get it at the library, even an inter- library loan service. I am out here in CA and read a copy from Nashville! -- Suzanne

I don't like the Birmbaum books much b/c they're the official line. But my kids love the colorful pictures!

I swear by the Unofficial Guide to Disneyland and the equivalent one for WDW.

California with Kids by Fodor's. It is great for those w/ younger kids. My 11 year old loves the Hidden Mickeys book.
