Hi all,

Now we're in 2013 I better start planning for DLP in March (10 weeks!) for DD 18th Birthday. We're there from Thursday mid afternoon until Sunday late afternoon so I'm considering having a day in Paris, specifically lunch at the Bar du Marche on the Rue de Seine, just south of Notre Dame. I visited Paris with a friend 5 years ago and we ate there and so DD has said she might like to go.

So, my questions are:
1. How easy/hard is the train into Paris? Am I right in thinking I'd get the RER to Chatelet les Halles and have to walk over the bridge by Notre Dame (google maps shows 1.4km and 18 minutes walking time). I should point out DH suffered a stroke a few years ago, so I know the walk will be more like 30 minutes with him.
2. How safe is it walking this route?
3. How often and how late do the trains run?
4. Is it worth the hassle or should we just stay onsite the whole time?!

Thanks guys!

I went to DLP this past summer, and I had absolutely no problem at all getting to the resort and back to Paris by train. I was staying in Italy and took an overnight train to Paris central station, and from there just hopped on the RER and it went straight to the resort and back. There was usually a train every few minutes and I know it ran as late as around 11:30-12:00 at night since I left the park at that time to go back to my hotel (but this was leaving the resort, I'm not sure how often they go back).

1 - It's 40 minutes from DLP to Chatelet. Check out which exit you want at Chatelet-Les Halles as it's a mega station

You could change platforms at Chatelet onto the RER B and go one stop to St Michel, which brings you out even closer to ND

2 - Very safe you are in (tourist) central Paris - Walk it with Google street view and you'll see how easy it is :goodvibes

3 - Trains run every 15 minutes from 5.20 am to 0.20 from DLP to Paris so you will have lot's of time

4 - I think you can guess my answer to this one ;)

Thanks for the replies!

It definitely sounds feasible to do, so that gives me another option for DD. I'll talk it over with DH and we can always put it to her once we get there.

In the meantime I'll do the route on google maps to see. We have been to the city before and walked everywhere, apart from taking the boat quite a bit. Our only experience of the train was travelling in from CDG and it wasn't a good experience! (so bad we got a taxi back to airport!) We did however surface at st michel, into bright sunshine with Notre Dame in front of us - the best way to first set eyes on Paris!

we did exactly that back in October. There are other stops you can get off at though. On our first trip we got off at Auber
