Am thinking of going to DLP in the last week in June instead of the usual sun holiday. Anyone any idea of what June is like, will it be mad busy? will it be very warm? I normally stay in NPB but was thinking of a change? any ideas I will have a toddler with special needs and an 8 year old with me. The toddler has limited mobility.

Hi Cantwait07!!

We went in the second week in June a couple of years ago and most rides were walk-ons.

The weather was very pleasant, shorts and t-shirt with a fleece for the evenings.

We (well, me really) are hoping to go back this year in June.

We went in June 2010 and we had some issues that would make me consider another season (if I ever returned). They tend to go rehab crazy between Easter and Bastille day. There were 7 closed attractions just at the Disneyland park including 2 E-Ticket rides last June. The park hours were too short, parks close at 19:00 while it stays light until 22:30pm. Many attractions open much later (2.5 hours+) than the opening time of the park. The shows had limited schedules. Many, many snack carts were closed and the restaurants had limited scheduled including not serving dinner. No fireworks. I'm not sure if this is standard practice outside the Christmas/Easter/Summer period but that is what you can expect in June.

The temps were fine (shorts all of the time) but it did rain every day we were there, although I can't blame Disney for that one.

We've been twice and stayed at NBH and SL and we strongly preferred SL over NBH. Neither of them were great by any stretch but when factoring in location, amenities and especially price SL is the best bet.

We are considering going for 2 nights in June but not sure if we should now if so many closures. Has anyone else been in June and can comment if this is standard?

I've been in June, early June, midweek. I think possibly Michael is comparing the park hours/show schedules etc/lack of fireworks with the American parks?

In June there is no fireworks at DLP, ever. You only get those for around 6 weeks in high summer season, on New Years Eve, 3 bonfire nights in early November, and St Patricks Day in March.
There is no evening parade outside of high summer season and Christmas season. Park closing time outside of weekends and high summer season are rarely later than 7pm or 8pm for the main park, possibly an hour or so earlier for the Studios.
I am usually at DLP in low season, midweek. On some days in low season some restaurants are closed, and yes, when the parks close at 7pm you can't eat dinner in any of the park restaurants after about 5pm.
I don't remember missing out on any rides on our June trip - but its possible there were some closures. I do remember that the Storyboat ride and Casey Jnr were open and I think June was the first trip where we managed to ride them :).

If you plan your days knowing in advance that there are no fireworks, parks close early evening, and keep an eye on the refurb list which is published every so often on the official site and on DLRP Magic, you can still have a great stay at DLP (in my opinion). There are plenty of Village and resort hotel restaurants you can eat at after the parks close, and you don't have to be a guest to enjoy any of the public restaurant/bar facilities any of the hotels offer.

ETA - there are a few June trip reports from 2010 here, might be useful if you're thinking of going then? -

We have been twice in the first and second weeks of June so can't comment specifically on the end of June but the weather for us has always been warm during the day but sometimes a little bit chilly first thing in the morning (only needing a cardigan).

We did see a lot of areas being refurbished last June but the year before it didn't seem like so much.
Last years closures were
Casey Jr. - Le Petit Train du Cirque 1st to 30th, Le Pays des Contes de Fées
1st to 30th, Dumbo the Flying Elephant 1st to 30th, Space Mountain: Mission 2 1st to 4th, CinéMagique 5th to 11th, Indiana Jones et le Temple du Péril 7th to 18th, Crush's Coaster 16th to 17th, La Cabane des Robinson 21st to 30th and the Pochahontas playground was also closed when we were there but I have no record of dates.

Lots of the attractions did have reduced hours but this seems to be common outside of peak times.

No, they always used to start on Bastille Day (14th) but the last couple of years it's been a bit earlier, something like the 4th or 7th.

Yes, historically it's all started on the same night.

I've just looked on DLRP Magic and the summer season started on 3rd July last year.

I went in June last year and thought it was a great time to go - the weather was terrific and the crowds low.:goodvibes
