hi just wanted to hear some of your advice of what disneyland is like in december? and whats the weather like, is it very cold and do parks shut early or not since its a christmas period?
we are thinking of going next december to see the christmas atmosphere etc. we have been twice to dlp both times in march. :)

December midweek before the schools break up for their Christmas holidays is just about my favourite time to go to DLP - beautiful themeing in the main park, low crowd levels, and all wrapped up warm against the cold :goodvibes.

Here is December 2012 park hours -

It gets dark at around 5pm in December at DLP, so you get a couple of hours of rides in the dark, which is lovely.

Yes, it can get very cold (ie freezing temps). I've never had snow yet, but we tend to go in November or right at the very beginning of December (Christmas season at DLP actually starts in earlyish-November and runs right through to early January).

already getting excited about it, and we just came up with the idea this morning. we were thinking about a 3night stay starting 9th december.

at d mom, having a look at hotel prices, would love to stay at DLH but seems a bit expensive. we really liked newport on our first trip, but have been reading also that seqouia is a good choice for xmas season. we probably wont spend much time in the hotel anyway but i always like the experience which the disney hotels offer.

any suggestions r welcome:goodvibes

My first ever trip to dlp was 9th dec 2010 , 4 nights 5 days.We went there for our honeymoon with the kids, we only stayed at Santa Fe though (all we could afford as the offers finished the day before I booked it) it was the year that we had the really bad snow though. My wedding day was ruined with the weather. Our trip to dlp didn't go much better lol it was full of snow/slush and I can honestly saw that its the coldest place I have ever been in my life haha! We didn't really do a lot, didn't do many rides ( didn't know about Peter Pan/ poc etc) so our trip kind of fell flat. We spent most our time trying to get warm lol. I did however decide to try dlp again in march this year. I joined this forum and learnt so much from it that when we went in march we loved it( so much so that I'm going back in July) I'd like to try a warm trip, as it was still a bit cold in march. If I'd have found this forum befor our first trip then it would have been so different. I would like to go again in December though. I think when we were there it closed at 6.As long as you go prepared for the weather you'll have a blast! :)

Hi,
We went the beginning of December 2009 and it was my favourite trip ever. Low crowds, christmas decorations, tree lighting ceremony etc. I was warned about how cold it was going to be so I was very prepared and yes, while it was cold, it was lovely and sunny a couple of days as well and the cold just added to the atmosphere in my opinion. One of my best moments ever at DLRP was sitting in the coffee shop on Main Street and they make it snow every hour on Main St and we all rushed outside to see it. Was a magical trip in every way. We have since been back in October and March and whilst we always have a great time, nothing was quite like the Magic of Christmas!!
Enjoy xx

Having stayed at the Newport myself, I would DEFINITELY recommend Sequoia over it - especially at christmas, it is by far the best. Beautiful christmassy cabin feeling, you will absolutely love it. It's more amazing than you can imagine I promise!

Disneyland is magical in December - very Christmassy with Christmas music and decorations. Totally put a smile on my face when I went!

Went over a weekend last December. It was cold (hovering around 0 deg C - there were some piles of snow/ice around lampposts), but if you're prepared for the weather with nice thick coats, stockings, scarves and even earmuffs then it's not too bad...

As it was a weekend when I was there the main Disneyland park shut late (around 10pm). Was very crowded though (weekend) but crowds thinned out after dinner.

We went the 2nd of December for 3 nights at the hotel new York but only because we got a good upgrade offer :)

Yes it was cold and wet but the Christmas atmosphere made up for it !

We are now thinking of a July trip next year as we have been 4 times now but always in winter

Sequoia Lodge is beautiful over Christmas I loved the new York as it was that bit closer and had a hot breakfast but for atmosphere sequoia is amazing !!1
