DLP Christmas shows etc - are they in English?

I posted this on the UK planning forum as I didn't realise there was a specific D.LP forum. Hopefully someone on here can give me some answers.


We're thinking of going to Disneyland Paris for a few days at the beginning of December but I have a concern. The last time (the only time) we went to DLP we were a bit disappointed by something that should have been obvious to us but hadn't been!! The shows and the talking attractions were not only in English (we had to wear headphones in some attractions and choose the language we wanted to hear). We felt this distracted from the enjoyment.

We went to WDW for Christmas 1998 but my husband was suffering from stress and panic attacks at the time and the crowds unsettled him so we missed much of what was going on. So this year as we have a few DVC points left and 3 days leave left at work we thought about going to DLP and hopefully getting some of the Disney Christmas magic there.

We went to WDW for 10 days last month so we don't want to go to DLP for 'normal' Disney stuff. We're also planning on going back to WDW for a week at the beginning of December 2009 so please can anyone tell me what DLP does for Christmas actvities/events and answer my question about languages used.

The only attraction I have been on, which was not in English, was the Art of Animation. We could have used headsets for that though.

There are dedicated shows in English for The Lion King show, the Stitch Live show etc. Cinemagique is mostly in English, as is Animagique (the first time my DD heard "Under the Sea" in French she was a bit put off, but now she sings along - "sur l'eau c'est en ").

HSM and HSM2 are dual-language, so they do some of the talking in English, some in French. All the songs are in English.

As with the previous poster - I think most - if not all - things these days are in either the mixed language of English and French whereby the story is kinda of told in both languages (for example, Mickey's Winter Wonderland), or in a dedicated single language depending on the showing time (for example, Stitch)

The only exceptions that I can think of are HISTA and the Art of Animation where headphones are provided. However, certainly with HISTA - depending on the showing the primary language will sometimes be in English - although I couldn't see anything that indicated this in advance other than from an announcement made just prior to the start of the showing whilst in the 'pre-show room'.

UPDATE - I've thought of some exceptions! - some of the rides are purely in French (based on my experience) - for example Phantom Manor and the dark-rides, such as Snow White.

Well - I don't think it actually has narration, but in one, or all of the dark rides (now my memory is being tested) some of the characters speak as you go thru - in these cases the dialogue in is in French.

The old hag says something when she turns around to face you in Snow White, I've never been able to catch it in French to try and work out what she says.

I have a copy of the Phantom Manor Vincent Price narration put onto a ride video, if I could choose one thing to do at DLP, it would be to visit PM and be able to hear the original narration for real.
