We are a family of 7 Disney veterans. We have been several times to both Disneyland and World. We will be in France Dec 25-Jan 7. And doing Disneyland Paris Jan 5 and 6th.

Onsite hotels is not really a contender this trip since we want 3 nights but only 2 days of park tickets and we plan on being out in the parks as much as possible. Right now I am thinking 2 hotel rooms at Hotel L’Elysee. But I’m wondering if there is something just as nice and just as close where could just have 1 room.

Also any other advise for crowds during these days, rope drop strategies, best foods to try, etc.

My kids speak French and we are so excited get to add our Disney parks fun on this trip!

Karin’s sticky thread has a lot of great information, so definitely read that one!

We just returned from our first trip to DLP, having been to DL several times per year for the last 15 years, as well as WDW many, many times.

One thing to note, the weather in Paris during our trip (we are coming home today) and likely during yours, was very cold (highs in the low 40’s) and misty to raining the entire trip. For that reason alone, I was grateful that we were staying at the Marvel hotel, so we could go back to the room for a midday break and warm up, change socks and shoes etc. We are rope drop to close park people at DL and WDW, but we are from Texas, and this cold/wet weather was not kind to us! There are some suites at the Marvel but I am unsure if they hold 7 people.

As for the food at the parks, I had read here that it is not the strong suit, and that was very accurate. We are used to all of the fun holiday food offerings at DL and WDW, and the variety. We were disappointed in the offerings at DLP, but not surprised, since many here warned of this accurately. Also, so many of the food stands were closed completely or closed very early in the afternoon/evening or opened only later in the morning. Many restaurants closed very early (to us) also (other than in the Disney Downtown area and in the hotels). So do temper your food expectations a lot, if you are used to the US parks and their offerings.

We still had a wonderful trip, but it was very, very different to our US parks’ experiences. That is one fun part about trying something new, but it can also feel like a challenge if you are not ready for it!
