Read in another post a suggestion to check in at 6am - is that do-able? What's the earliest you've been able to check into the DLH? Thanks! :thumbsup2

I haven't done it, but yes it's doable. They won't likely have your room available, but they'll hold your luggage and give you your checkin stuff. If it's a MM day you can go partake in it, b/c you'll have your white slip of paper that's needed to get in for MM. :)

Checked in at 9, were in our room at 9:15 am... on a Wed in October... you can check in anytime, but you don't necessarily get keys to a room! In May, we checked into GCH at 10, and got in our room at 1 pm for a nap...

Thanks, bumbershoot and mommy2princessabby! Once you check in, can you use the pool, even if your room isn't ready yet?

I did this twice at the PP on Sunday mornings. (Weekend early AMs are great times to drive thru LA w/o traffic btw).

- Checked in 90 min. prior to MM.
- Dumped the luggage with the bellmen.
- Picked up our hotel ticket (& other stuff).
- (since we had concierge) walked upstairs & had breakfast snacks & loaded up with water.
- Walked thru DTD to the DL front gate & were in line 30 min. before MM opending.

Great way to maximize your "on-site" stay. :thumbsup2

Yep, you can use the pool and the concierge room (if you are concierge) after you check in, and the whole day on the day you check out... In May they were booked and couldn't give us 3 pm late check-out (we got a 1 pm check out instead--which doesn't help for naps), so we went down to the pool, and used a bunch of pool towels and slept in the shade by the pool... worked out well!

I think I was the one whose post you read about checking in at 6:00 a.m. Last December, I had to drag my tired friend out of her house while it was still dark to get down to the resort early. We did pre-check in at 6:00 a.m. at GCH, and we never had to go back to the hotel desk to get our room key later. First of all, it was a great time for pre-check in because nobody was there then. I walked right up, gave all my info, the lady behind the counter gave me free pins for the Year of a Million Dreams and she gave me the room keys right then and there. She said all we had to do was call a particular phone number later in the afternoon (anytime after 12, but we got in at 2 p.m.) and find out if the room was ready for us and we could just go right in. It is a great way to do it so you don't get stuck in the mid-to-late afternoon crunch of people trying to check in at the front desk, and it saves time when you don't have to go back to get a key later. Plus, if you do have a special request for a room that they "cannot guarantee," the earlier you get there for pre-check in, the better, because it is basically first come, first serve with special requests on rooms. Especially during the peak season.

So we timed it perfectly and went right to Goofy's Kitchen and then into the park early.

same here...checked in at 9:30 and were in our room right after leaving front desk...except mine was a sunday in Feb.

Driving down from the Bay Area - we usually leave around 6am, to get in by 3pm, to check into the BWPPI. However, since we're staying at the DLH, I want to soak up as much disney magic as possible - thanks again!

So are you flying this time or driving in the middle of the night to arrive to early??
