I know that this has come up many times, and I have always given my imput on DLH. We have stayed at the DLH 2 times. We are going in March and both have rooms avail. We are a family of 5. Do both hotels have the same size rooms?

We are DVC members and staying on points (VGC are full), so we are not interested in staying offsite.

Thanks!

I have found that PPH has bigger rooms (3 times there, 1 time DLH). Just be aware that the pull out couch has a tricky mechanism that is unlike any couch/bed I've ever used. Not so much pull out as flip over.

I agree with Molly. The PP has more space and you can put one big kid or 2 little kids on the sofa sleeper. That being said if you love the DL hotel you can make it work.

DLH has rooms with 2 queens and a sofabed that a more flexible person can use (not knowing the age of the "odd man out" in your family ;) ). We have 6 total when we stay there on points and one of our 2 girls sleeps on the bed and the little one sleeps with us in the queen. The other couple in our group takes the other bed. We do this every labor day weekend and it has worked out well. We are trying the PP in a 1 bedroom suite in April and we'll post up on that. (I'll probably add comments about it on the blog after we do it - follow the link at the top of this page to find our blog.)

I think either way, you'll be fine.

The "odd man" out would be DS10. We also have a 4 and 6 year old. We have stayed at DLH and dit fine. I just thought I would try PPH if it was roomier.

Our standard room at PPH was bigger than any standard room I've been in at DLH. Totally agree with the previous post regarding sofa bed - unusual mechanism.

We stayed at PPH for the first time last May and really, really liked it. I was very pleasantly surprised and we plan on staying there again on next trip.

I am really leaning toward PPH. I love DLH and the pool theme. I also love the close proximity to DTD. On Nov 2007 we had a pool view room and last Nov we had a DTD view. We watched the fireworks from our room.

I could really see the wear on the hotel last time and I know there are not many rooms that are refurbished yet. So, I think I may try PPH. I am taking my mom with us and toldher what websites to look at to get her opinion. It is her first time, so I want her to enjoy where we stay.

We would be getting a theme park view, so it should be really nice.

If you stay at PPH...

At least once walk down the hallway towards the kid's movie room, and sniff. They pump in the smell of suntan lotion. :)

And when going to the parks, go out the *front* door, NOT the back door that the signs point you to. Go out the front, go left to the crosswalk. Go into the Grand Cal, turn left after you're in the lobby, go down the hallway, out the sliding doors to the right, and you'll soon find yourself in DTD, between Club 365 and Sephora (with the Haagen Dasz sign across the way from you). Turn right, go to bagcheck to DL.

And of course if you're going to DCA, use the GCH/DCA entrance whenever, as you are a resort guest and can use it at will!

By the way, PCH Grill is really nice for dinner. A bit chilly, and if you get the quesadilla appetizer, know that the big roasted green chili pepper in it is HOT!

Also make note of the little perks you can get; when we were there in June, I realized that almost everything offered to guests at the Grand was offered to PPH guests as well. Early Sephora thing (with gift cert purchase), early BuildaBear, tours around the Grand, etc. All on the sheet posted across from checkin!

Thanks Molly for that info. I know the DLH guests don't get those extra perks. Never even saw them posted. I'll look forward to seeing that list in April. I'm super interested to see the one-bedroom suite at the PPH. Over the years, we've stayed in one of the artisan suites in the GCH and done a double lock-off suite in the DLH - both using points. PPH will be a nice change of pace.

I didn't realize that we could get suites on our points. I'm going to call today to see if any are available. Was the walk to the parks that much longer? I also did not realize that there were perks that were not at DLH. Even though we own at VGC, we have only stayed at the DLH.

I just got off the phone with Member Services with DVC and we are no longer able to book suites on points since VGC have opened. :headache: I did book PPH Theme park view for us. I am pretty excited to stay in a different hotel and hope the kids like.

The suite is fun! We were upgraded to it when we got "big kahuna family of the day" in late '08. What a surprise, since we'd paid rock bottom AP rates. :) 2 bathrooms is lovely, and the couch is huge and comfy. The bedroom is just a bedroom, if perhaps a bit longer than usual.

Yeah they just recently changed the booking categories for PPH and DLH. Like, in the last 2 weeks. Can't book concierge anymore with points, either.
