DLH Standard vs Premium View Room

So I booked a DLH premium view room and requested a Downtown Disney view (I know it's not guaranteed) before I realized that the DLH no longer has balconies. I envisioned us sitting on the balcony overlooking Downtown Disney. I'm wondering if I should switch to a standard view.

I am wondering if you can see out the windows when you are laying in bed? I can't see us just standing at the window looking at the view. When I am in my hotel room, I do not want to be standing on my feet that are usually killing me from walking around the parks. Especially when we are staying at the DLH after being in the parks for a week already.

Thanks!

The windows in the room are floor to ceiling so you can see out the windows when laying in bed, but the beds do not face the windows. They are sideways to the windows. You will have a chair or daybed in your room that is close to the window and you can sit and look out the window there. The premium view rooms are up higher giving you the better view, but you need to be near the window to see down to where the people are.

I personally don't know if I would pay extra for the premium view. We usually have a standard view room and have lucked out and gotten a great view (of the pool, my personal favorite, as at night it looks like you are in Hawaii with the tiki torches lit). Just this last time we stayed there the view was not so good as it was of palm trees and foliage and nothing else.

Now, some of the rooms in the Frontier Tower have balconies, but I am not sure if those are premium view rooms or suites. Also, I know some face the pool but I don't know what the view on the other side is of. And they look to be a bit small, not sure if you could sit out there.

You have probably done this already, but if you go to Trip Advisor, there are tons of pictures of the rooms to give you an idea of different room types and views.

FWIW, you could never sit on the balconies anyway. They were barely deep enough to stand on. It was nice, however, to pull the daybed over, open the sliding doors and drink in the activity below. I loved watching the fireworks that way. You can still do that, but [obviously] without opening the windows. I don't miss the balcony at all, but I do miss being able to open the windows.

I do like the premium DTD view enough to pay for it, but I'm not a commando park goer. I spend time at the hotel, too.

I personally wouldn't pay extra for the DD view. We booked a standard view room for our stay a couple of weeks ago and were "upgraded" to a lovely pool view (in the Fantasy Tower). Like a poster above said, it's a gorgeous view at night! :cloud9:

Thanks all. I think I will go ahead and pay for the premium view since it's only 2 nights. That's great you guys got upgrades to a pool view, but my luck would be that I would get a view overlooking the parking lot.

Dizme - I think we will be spending a lot of time at the resort. We will have been at the park for a week already, and this is my 3rd long trip this year (my year of an AP). So I want to take in all the resort has to offer. We have reservations at Goofy's Kitchen and Steakhouse 55. We have never been to either. We always do Minnie & Friends. Well, that's not true. But last time I ate at Goofy's was the last time I stayed at the DLH - 1993. Back when it was affordable to stay there. Haha!

A lot of times I get a view of DTD/DCA/DL in the Adventure tower. Depending on the floor, I love lying in bed when I am first waking and looking out to see Cars Land all lit up. It stays lit all night, and only after sunrise does the lighting turn off. I'm trying to find a pic, but can't seem to come up with on.

Oh, that sure makes upgrading to a premium view sound tempting!!!

Oooh, that sounds really cool! I have requested the Adventure Tower and a Downtown Disney view, so that would be awesome if I could lay in bed and see Cars Land. I'm glad I sprung for the premium view. Here's hoping!

I think that's a good choice! The thing about not booking what you want is that you might get lucky but then again, you might be stuck with that Frontier tower parking lot view with the lovely sound of garbage trucks in the morning, which we had once. I'm fine with paying the upgrade to be certain. And yes, the price has changed slightly since your last stay :scared:

Hope you have a wonderful time!!
