Do the prices for the towers vary? For example, if I'm paying for a standard room, is there any way possible I can get a standard room w/ a view of DTD? Or would that be considered an upgrade?

A room with a DTD view/pool view/upper pool or resort view is considered an upgrade and Disneyland sells DTD view rooms. Disneyland also sells pool view rooms and upper resort/pool views. DTD view rooms are in the Dreams tower. Upper resort and pool view rooms are also in the Dreams tower.

Standard rooms are found in the Wonder and Magic towers mostly.
They offer views of the parking hotels, of the waterfalls and some obstructed pool views.

When I was checking in last Friday, the CM said that many times they do not have enough standard view rooms so they have been upgrading people to view rooms quite a bit. maybe you will have a good view. Good luck!

heatherleigh...two years ago we use the senior rate for the DLH...this is a standard view room...It was the middle of August...we checked in late afternoon and during check-in the CM looked at me and said "you are going to love your room" ... being tired...I didn't catch on...but when we got to the room...WOW! We got the Sierra (Dreams) Tower...8th floor...Downtown Disney View...the view was stunning... Magic does happen :wizard: maybe not all the time but you can hope! I will hope right along with you for a magical upgrade...JC

I never cared much about views until I saw some of the pics posted on this board. I would love to have one of Downtown Disney. It's beautiful! I think the kids would like it too. If it doesn't cost much, I'm going to ask about upgrading. Hopefully they'll upgrade us for free, but I doubt it. It's never happened.

I really thought it would happen on our first stay at PPH (just because I saw on TripAdvisor where it happened to so many people.) I don't expect anything for nothing though, and I wouldn't have a problem paying if it isn't much. It sure would be nice.

I read somewhere around here that you should call the DL hotel where you have your reservation, a couple of weeks before you go, and ask very politely for a free upgrade. So I did this 2 weeks before our spring break trip to GCH. I mentioned that it was our first Disney trip, how excited we were, and that I was wondering what kind of a room we would have... and very politely asked if it would be possible to get a free room upgrade. CMs will not volunteer information, but if you know to ask for it, they will give it to you... she said that she could not guarantee anything, but that she would put in the computer that I had requested an upgrade. She said that when they start blocking out the room assignments a few days before, they will take it into consideration, and they try to accomodate you whenever possible. As it turned out, we did get a room upgrade. It wasn't the *best* DTD view, but instead of a parking lot view we got a lovely courtyard view, with the monorail running quietly by our window, and we could see almost all the fireworks right over the roof of the wing opposite us. We were also just 3 doors from the most convenient lobby elevator. So, it was definitely worth it to us to ask for the free upgrade! :woohoo:

Yay, Aval, thank you so much for the tip!! I had no idea. I am going to do exactly what you did. I'm the type that's always nervous to ask, but it won't be as bad to do it over the phone.
