We have booked DLH standard view rooms....how do you make a request for a specific tower or special request?
We have 3 rooms (2 rooms on one reservation for 8 (4 kids/4 adults) & 1 room booked separately for 2 adults) and most importantly we want to try to get both reservations somewhat near each other since we'll have 4 kids to share among the rooms.

Yes. If you booked directly through the Disneyland Hotel or the Walt DIsney Travel Company, you should call them with both reservation numbers, explain the situation and tell them what tower you want and/or what view you want.
They will note your requests in their reservations and tell you that is not guaranteed and depends on the availability at check-in. I find the earlier you make a request the more likely it will be granted since the hotel will know your requests as rooms are assigned before your check-in.

I hope this helps.
