DLH room key used for what?

I just wanted to confirm this: When you take the monorail near DLH into the park, you need to show your park ticket at the monorail station, but if you are going to early morning magic hours, you need to show your DLH room key as well as your park ticket? You also can use your DLH room key for charging purchases to your room? Is the room key used for anything else? For example, do you need to show the key to use the pool or other such things at the hotel? Thanks!

Yes, yes and yes!

It's your Magic Morning pass and key into the hotel pool. I tried to use it for purchases once, but since we hadn't received our room yet (had room assignment) it was going to be a little more complicated. Those are the 3 reasons I've needed our room key.

After you show your room key to use the pool, do they give you a wrist band or hand stamp or something so that you can go in and out of the pool area with that?

It used to be you had to use the card in the card reader on the gate. We do not use the pools while we are there, kids have no interest since we have one at home.

There isn't anyone to show your room key to. The pools are gated with card readers. The only way to access the pool is to use your key to get through the gated area. We last stayed at DLH in Aug '09 and as far as I know the pools are still behind the gates. Unfortunately the bathrooms in GCH and DLH ( i don't remember the pool area at PPH)are not within the gates, so if someone needed the restroom while at the pool, they would need to take a key with them to get back into the pool area.
