Hello, I am planning on taking my kids to DLR from April 29 - May 4. We want to stay at DLH but we really want a downtown disney view. If we pay for a premium or deluxe view, can we still ask for a downtown disney view? Which tower is the best? and can we specifically request that tower? If we do get a downtown disney view, is it loud at night? We have a 2 year old.

Thanks.

You can ask for anything you want to ask for but that's an upgrade from the normal premium or deluxe view so odds are strongly that you won't get it. If you really want it book it, the category on the website says Premium Downtown Disney View. If there's no availability book the closest category & request it but don't get your hopes up. Those rooms are mostly in Adventure Tower FYI.

Thank you! What do you recommend for a family with little kids? Is a pool view better for quiet? Or is the downtown Disney view worth it for the fireworks?

Downtown Disney view is great! Not super noisy in Adventure tower either because there are no balconies and you can’t open windows in that tower. I’ve had a standard view in Fantasy tower facing mickey and friends parking structure and depending on room been able to see fireworks, I asked at check in and they were able to find me a room that we could watch fireworks from.

Pool view is best for quiet. DTD view can be decent for fireworks. You will probably only have 2 chances at fireworks, April 29 and May 4th. If it is important to have a DTD view, book the premium view. Deluxe view rarely has a decent view of fireworks.

We’ve had a “standard” room in Fantasy tower and had a full pool view, no idea how we lucked out on that one but it’s very nice! No fireworks, but quiet.

Our last stay at the DLH we had a standard room, 5th floor with a full view of DTD and we could see the fireworks. It was a bit noisy because you could hear the bands playing in DTD but it wasn’t anything that we found annoying.

We had the same on the 6th floor. I'm a pretty light sleeper and wasn't bothered by the noise. Well, except for the fireworks booms. That did wake me up the night I fell asleep early. But I appreciated the wakeup call so I could watch. :)

Have they recently tweaked the view categories again? I'm seeing Premium, Deluxe, & Premium Dowtown Disney view (most expensive). Looks like they added an upcharge for DtD view but not a category for Deluxe DtD. Maybe op could book premium DtD & request high floor?

Standard is generally floors 2-4 facing pool or DTD, Deluxe is 5-7, Premium is 8 and up. Frontier tower facing parking lot is standard, regardless of floor.) They have separated the pool and DTD views with an upcharge for DTD.

I'll be curious to see if that changes as they start turning DTD into a big construction zone. I don't see how you can get premium dollars for that.

We just came home yesterday.
Stay at the DLH in a Standard View room.
We were in the Adventure Tower on the 6th floor right at the elevators over looking DTD. Room 2447 I think...

For some crazy reason Fireworks took place Wednesday and Thursday nights around 9:30pm
Parks had closed at 8pm. So I have no idea why there were Fireworks those two nights.

The view was nice of DTD and the fireworks.

The band was playing but no issue with sound in the room.
Did hear and feel the boom of the fireworks.

That's the room we had! It was so awesome to be that close to the elevator. The fireworks view was a bonus we hadn't expected. I'd love to stay there again.

The room was showing slight wear and tear.
Which I had not seen when staying in other rooms on property over the years.
The room was Clean as a whistle though, so I could care less about that.

Beds and pillows were so comfy, ahhhh.
The stay was PERFECT!

Yeah, sorry, we probably shouldn't have partied so hard while we were there! I'd take that room again in a heartbeat. Well, maybe. If EOS really is gone when we get back, we might need a different view so it doesn't taunt us every day. ;)
