We have reservations on the conceirge floor beginning June 10. Should we be expecting a call from the concierge, or should we contact them?

I know we have had reservations with the Grand Californian since January and we leave tomorrow and we have not been contacted. I know I read somewhere on this board that people had been contacted. Who Knows?

The resorts at WDW write to you. I am going to the Disneyland Hotel and I didn't hear from them. I called them, went over everything and had them make reservations for me.

No contact for us. :( We've stayed at The Poly (WDW) concierge twice and never did we receive any contact from them in advance.

We stayed at the DLH concierge at the beginning of May and never received contact from them either.

We did NOT have a +positive+ experience with the concierge services at the DLH. :( :( :(

I hope you enjoy far superior service when you go. :D :)

Luvsdsny, what happened with the DLH concierge service? We're going on the 18th, and we have a concierge room reserved for 7 nights! Have you posted your experience somewhere, or would you be willing to share?? Thanks!

Thank you for your input. I guess I will give them a call tomorrow. I hope I won't regret upgrading to concierge level. I will let you know how our experience was when we return.

We are staying at the DLH concierge level June 20-27th. I had several questions so I called them - - since I had a number of matters and lots of advance time (this was a month ago), it was suggested that I fax them a note. I did. Within a week I heard back via the mail and they answered all my questions and sent me some maps and brochures. And there have been a couple of follow-up faxes. The staff has been gracious and helpful in all of my contacts.

After reading so many less than glowing comments about the concierge service, I was much relieved and reassured by the experiences I have had with them so far.

On the other hand, I wrote Guest Relations with a complaint more than 2 months ago and have not had any type of response. Not even an acknowledgement that my letter was received or read.

Tiggerish

Could you do me a favor. After your stay at DLH concierge could you email me (minybaer@aol.com) on how the concierge service was and what you thought of it.

We are going to be staying at the GC concierge in September and I have heard that DLH and GC concierge are basicly the same. I have seen people saying "save your money" and do regular room. I do not want to "PANIC" and change my reservatins to theme park view at the GC. My husband is insistant on keeping our reservations as is (this is only for 2nts). So I want your advise. I know that the concierge service at DL is not the same like at the Poly at WDW so I am not expecting anything like that. I would really like some good reports on concierge.

Thanks
Cindy

DLH Concierge Service left me 'cold' :(

I have posted on numerous other threads about our less-than-satisfactory experience...but I'll be darned if I can't find them now. Oh well. I'll give you the short version...

Keep this in mind...we have stayed at The Poly Concierge 2 times and had very, very +POSITIVE+ experiences...so we had 'high expectations'

We were booked for 6 nights. After our first night there we called the front desk to 'down grade' from concierge to a standard room. We couldn't justify the extra $$$ with cold snacks in the lounge and a few chocolates left on our pillows for the turn-down service.

Our room was no different, bigger or better than my mother's room and she had a standard room.

The lounge had a cold atmosphere. You don't just walk in...you have to use your room key to get in. The snacks were limited and mostly cold, finger foods. There was a little note (I think in the literature that you recieve at check-in) that asked you to limit the amount of drinks that you took from the honor bar in the lounge to just 2 per visit (or something like that)....GIVE ME A BREAK!!! And housekeeping didn't do anything extra or special or cute for the kids (though the room was very clean!!!), and although I shouldn't 'expect' this....I did because that's what we experienced at WDW.

We got a paper in the morning...but so did everyone else.

I don't know what you are expecting from concierge service, but we were hoping for some hot, finger-style foods for the kids and for us between park visits. I don't think that is asking for much.

The staff in the lounge didn't even say hello when we walked in......and we DID say hello....they smiled, but didn't even offer to help with anything.

My family has traveled extensively and have often stayed on the concierge level of wonderful resorts (other than Disney {{{gasp!}}} ;) ), and the DLH concierge was HORRIBLE in comparison to anything else I've ever experienced.

The good news is this....although they wouldn't credit us the full $150/night for the 'concierge service', they did credit half of that and let us stay in the room.

We quit using the lounge, we kept getting our newspaper (because everyone does!), and we kept getting the turn-down service (basically one bed turned down with about 6 little Mickey chocolates on the pillow) each evening.

The hotel itself was nice. And our stay was wonderful.

But we'll never stay in concierge at the DLH again.

Hope this helps. If not, please feel free to e-mail or PM me. :D

Tia
