My wonderful husband decided to upgrade us to concierge for our upcoming trip (since this will be our last Disney trip for a lonngg while). Is there a certain area we should have requested? Are all of the concierge rooms located in the Sierra tower? Right now we have a pool view room. Thanks for any suggestions! :goodvibes

They really don't have Concierge rooms at the DLH. It is actually access to the concierge lounge. This last weekend we had a suite in the Bonita tower and had access to he COnierge lounge that was in the Sierra Tower. If you can, try and request a room in the same tower as the lounge.

Have fun.

Try and switch your room from the pool view to the Downtown Disney view in the same tower, Sierra. You will be able to see parts of the parks, the mountain tops of Disneyland and lots of California Adventure too including the Grizzly Peak and Tower of Terror. Best of all though, you will be able to see the fireworks from your room!

The pool view is okay, my kids liked seeing how crowded it was before heading down for a swim but the park/resort downtown disney view is always good especially if you are in your room a lot. My kids fell asleep early so we ended up watching the fireworks from the room more than once. You can also see them from the concierge lounge but if you are already in your pjs and your kids are sleeping...it is nice to watch them from your bed! I loved having the curtains open and watching all the people and movement.

Thank you both for the very helpful information. Right now we have Sierra requested but that's it....We tried to get Downtown Disney view but was told that it was sold out. Also, should I request a room with a daybed since DD wants to have one? Or do all of the rooms have them? It's been 2 1/2 years since we've been there..sorry for all of the questions. :goodvibes Thanks for the help!

That's too bad that it is sold out but I have always heard that it is a "request" only, not a guarantee so I wonder about that. Call back again tomorrow and you may get a different answer from a different cm. That happens all the time.

Make sure they have your request noted for Sierra Tower in your reservations-ask for upper floor too! Then ask them to "request" the DTD view with the understanding that there is no guarantee. They will note it on your reservation and will try to meet your request. We have found that if you can possibly check in early in the day, we have most often gotten our requests. On long stays, we even stay somewhere offsite and close and then go over to DLH at 8am just to be sure to get a good room-lol. We usually drive down and would never get there early so it works out for us since the first night all we do is sleep. Our last trip, I found out from the CM on the phone that they had our room coded Pool View but still made them put the DTD view upper floor request on our reservation in the computer. I called again another day just to make sure it was in there-lol. When we got to the hotel, we got it! The hotel was totally sold out too so they really do try to meet your requests. A lot of people don't even request anything so they get what's left.

How big is your family that will be staying at the DLH? If there are 5, you will automatically get a daybed but not all rooms have them. There are 4 of us but when we go to DLH, we tell a little white lie and say there are 5 just to be sure to get a daybed-shhh, don't tell on us! Then because DS and DD fight over the daybed, we also request a free rollaway and it's great! If there are just 3 of you and you would like a King Bed with a daybed, I just don't know if those rooms exist, maybe someone else here will? We always get the 2 Q with the daybed and the rollaway. Our second favorite view is the Bonita Tower overlooking the waterfalls. I just love it because at night it is all lit up and I leave the door open to hear the sound of the water. They turn it off at 11 so it won't keep you away at night. Someone posted they were high enough in the Bonita Tower to see the fireworks too but that is a pain to hike over to concierge in Sierra every time you want a water bottle or a snack.

If you do get a pool view, it really is a pretty view so don't be disappointed. You will have a great time!

I ditto fidoprincess's response about checking in early. We do the same thing--always priceline a hotel the night before and check-in by 8 a.m. We have always gotten our room request. I would question the CM who said the DTD view was sold out! I like the DTD view with the daybed the best. There are only four of us but my little ones like to fight over who sleeps on the bed. :) The Bonita tower is my second favorite, hotel view. I too love the sound of the waterfalls at night. But, when we have concierge, I definately prefer Sierra. It is nice just to hop on the elevator to get a snack or drink. Also, with concierge, you get a DVD player. So it is nice being close to get movies.

And, the pool view from Sierra Tower is pretty darn good too! :cool1: :cool1:

Again I want to stress to you to "Call back again tomorrow and you may get a different answer from a different cm. That happens all the time" Tell them that you know it is just a request but please note it in your reservations! Then call back again a few days later and make sure it is in their computer. As far as I know there is no price difference between pool or DTD view. I would not give up Sierra Tower, even pool view for a different "better" view because you are doing concierge.

My Dh called back a little while ago and was told that we have pool view reserved and couldn't get Downtown Disney requested :confused3 So he made sure that we had Sierra tower, upper floor requested. Then he called back and got another cm who told him that downtown disney view wasn't available for concierge. In order to get downtown disney view we would have to give up our concierge. So we decided to keep our concierge and go with what we have...I'm confused a little bit about the whole thing :confused3

But in 2 days we'll be in Disneyland!!! We arrive at Long beach at 10:42 a.m. so we'll be able to check in sort of early. Since I booked with the AP discount and I have an AP voucher, I have to go to the park to get my pass and then check in, is this correct? Thanks for all of the help everyone!

Since you have the voucher, I have read that they let you check in with that. Odds are your room will not be ready anyway so go to the hotel and check in first and then store your luggage at the bell station right in front. If the cm says you have to go get the ap, do it then. If not, you can go to DL and play and go to the main street bank and get your real ap and your picture taken when the line looks short. When we got ours, we went at the end of the night and there was no line but our pictures were not that great-lol. We all looked worn out!

Usually they tell you that the room will be ready around 3. Another time, we checked in at 8am and were told that we had the dtd view room on the 8th floor. I was so happy! We did not go back to the hotel around 3 though, we stayed at DL all evening and went back around 10pm to pick up the key and our room had been switched to the pool view-grrrr! So I really suggest that you call from DL around 2:30 and see if your room is ready and if not, keep checking every 1/2 hour. Last time, I did not take my cell phone and the CMs at all the stores called for me!! How nice is that! I just asked them and they did it. That time our room was ready about 4 so one of us went right over and got the keys while the rest played at DL. I was not taking any chances!

Long Beach is a great airport, tiny and easy but when you leave there, security is mean so don't fool around. I've heard stories of them even being mean to little old ladies and when my aunt (73) accidently had a lighter in her purse, they screamed at her. I still love to fly in and out of there though and love jet blue. Is that who you are flying? They have nice big leather seats and screens on each seat back-cushy! Have a wonderful trip and if things don't go exactly right, speak up for yourselves. The CMs will switch your room if you don't like it and they have other rooms available. There are a few King rooms that people complained about saying they were so tiny and they were switched. I've hear the corner rooms are the best so it does not hurt to ask for that too when checking in-lol.

Watch for signs saying DL will be really crowded-they have big black electronic billboard type signs right in front. If you see those, don't leave the park until you are done or you might not get back in. Again, have a wonderful time and don't forget your warm coats. It's cold at night.

fidoprincess,
Thank you for all of the great info you have given me. We are flying with Alaska Air..just a short 2 hour 42 min flight and we're there :woohoo: I'll try to check in with the voucher if not that's ok too. Well thanks again! :santa:

Just had to put my 2 cents in! We did DLH Concierge in October and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were in Sierra and requested same floor as the lounge, but were one floor below- no biggie. Our family of five spent a great deal of time in the lounge, breakfast, happy hour, nighttime snacks, and enjoyed the DTD view from there. Our room had a pool view and it was MARVELOUS! At night Tink would magically appear in the pool. We loved it. If you get to see the fireworks (they were cancelled the Sat. of our visit) you will do so in the Concierge Lounge. The view is great, you can get a front row seat, they open up all the doors and pipe in the music.

We loved everything about the DLH and the Concierge lounge service!

You are going to have a fantastic time- do not sweat the view!

Thanks for sharing your experience. It sounds like you had a wonderful time! No I'm definitely not worried about the view...I'm just happy to be going :cloud9: This is our Christmas trip and an early anniversary gift to me. Since I will be about 8 months pregnant on our real anniversary and won't be able to go back to WDW next year, my wonderful DH decided on concierge to make this trip extra special
