Hello -

We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel on the concierge level using our points a few years ago and loved it. That option is no longer available.

Does anyone know why they removed this option?

Once a Disney resort adds a DVC section, that resort is no longer able to be booked with points unless you book the DVC section.

Actually, you can still book at points at DLH. I called Guest Services about it yesterday. At this point, they are only booking through 12/31/10. They didn't know when the 2011 points will be available, but the 2010 point charts are available on the web. They did say that the $95 fee is still being waived for Disneyland hotels.

My guess is that they are able to sell the concierge rooms for cash. And perhaps that it was a good sales pitch back when they wanted to get more buyers on the west coast. Now they figure VGC should be enough to sell.

All just speculation but for whatever reason Disney did not feel it benefitted them to offer the concierge on points any more. You could check and see if you could upgrade from a regular room to concierge by paying the difference in cash.

I think it's a bummer myself since it's still an option at the WDW resorts.

I also used my points a few years ago to book the Disneyland Hotel concierge level. It was a wonderful room, view and lounge. Sorry to see it go away. :sad2:

Things may change as they do all the renovations to the hotel. Fingers crossed.

I doubt that the renovations are the reason. After all, they stopped the concierge option at PPH as well, when booking on points. And PPH isn't being renovated.

I figure it was just too costly for them. It was a GREAT deal for us when we booked DLH concierge in May '09. The only way we'd do concierge, unless there were a spectacular deal. What's a great deal for us probably isn't a great deal for them...
