Thanks in advanced to anyone who takes the time to answer, or even read! Love this board :grouphug:

We are checking in to the DLH tomorrow and naturally my body thought this would be the perfect time for a flare-up of my disease. I'm on medication that prohibits me from being in the sun for very long, so 30 minute lines with my family are pretty much out of the question. I couldn't cancel our trip and told my husband I'm fine with hanging out at the hotel until sundown while he hits the park with our sons. He feels horrible and surprised me by upgrading our room to club level.

I know about the four mealtimes, the DVDs available for rent, and the extra help with booking reservations. Are there any other tips you could share with me about concierge and benefits that might not be so well known? For example, I would have never known that CMs are okay with you grabbing a couple bottles of water to go (and I only know that much because it was mentioned in a previous thread!).

Thank you so much for any ideas you might have. I'm grateful to be on vacation with my family, but this setback was a huge bummer and I'm trying to make the best of it.

I don't have any hints or tips sorry but I wanted to wish you a happy vacation. I hope everything settles down and you are able to have a lovely time with your family.

Your husband sounds like a good guy.

I haven't stayed at DLH yet, but at PPH they have drinks under the counter that you can have as well (soda and juice, mostly). I'm pretty sure someone will tell you this, but somehow I missed it my first stay until the end of day 2, lol.

Hope you have a great trip.

Hope you feel better! I could have happily stayed in the concierge lounge all day! One recommendation -- request to be in the same tower as the lounge. Otherwise, it can be a pain to get there. Also, don't hesitate to ask for anything. They have loads of stuff in the back you have to ask for. You can ask for as many waters as you like to take into the parks -- we would get 6-8 because they are small. They also will make stuff like hot chocolate and specialty drinks. They also have alcholic drinks. If you need any accomodations for the parks, they will take care of that for you. They pipe in music for the fireworks, so you can watch them from the lounge from the floor to ceiling windows. Have fun!

You may want to check with City Hall for a Guest Assistance Card. Just tell them your need...that you cannot be out in the sun for a certain amount of time. With the GAC, you may be offered a place to wait for each ride that is out of the sun.

I agree with this!

At the DLH, there are sodas & juices in a fridge that you are welcome to take as you want. If you do spend some time out of the parks, bring a book and hang out in the lounge. There are tables & chairs, but also a couch. My stepdad spent a lot of time just hanging out in the lounge on one of our trips.

We visit many times a year, and always stay Concierge. It's great for the kids with breakfast, snacks, and drinks!

My husband has a special medical condition as well. I STRONGLY suggest you discussing your situation with the concierge host/hostess. They have all the connections. Our host was able to get my husband a special Guest Assistance card so he didn't have to stand in any long lines! There are special waiting areas for people that can't be in a traditional line!

Your concierge host/hostess will be your new best friend, I promise!!!

You guys are wonderful, I'm incredibly touched by the well-wishes. This is why I love this board so very much!

I did speak with a cast member at city hall and I asked if there was some way that I could wait at an alternate shady or cool area while my husband and sons went through the regular line so that we were still waiting and then join up with them, but I was told the handicapped entrance stamp was the most appropriate for me. It's a huge help for some rides, but some of our youngest's favorites like Pooh and Monsters would still require me to go through the regular line since it's wheelchair accessible. I might try speaking with once of the CMs in concierge, but I hate to seem like I'm pushing the issue if I've already been told that this is the card I'm supposed to have. I'm just grateful to be here and I'm appreciative that Disney accommodates me at all :) We're going to try and make some fun dining plans so I can enjoy a little more of the Disney experience without the rides (too bad concierge doesn't have an "in" on Club 33, right? :rotfl:)

Thank you all so much, again. I appreciate your time and ideas more than I can express!

Maybe you could purchase an umbrella or one of the cute parasols they sell for when you are out in the sun? A lot of the regular queues have covered areas, so that should help.

Hello would you happen to know which tower that is?

I would still talk to the hostess in the lounge. You'd be amazed at how much magic they can do. Besides, the worse she can say is sorry.
