DLH-anyone getting offers to extend their stay?

Man, still trying to decide if it's worth moving our DLH stay to the beginning of our week. If we only have 2 days at DLH, I def want to end with them, but if we could have the whole week....

I'd heard from several folks in late June that they were offered the opportunity to extend their stay at the DLH for $129 or so-insanely good rate for this summer. Anyone else getting this? If its happening a lot, I'll be tempted to move my DLH days to the beginning of our trip, rather than the end.

We stayed at DGC June 25-30, and received an offer for $199/night to extend our stay. Unfortunately, the DLR portion of our vacation was the last 5 days, so we couldn't use the offer.

In thinking this over I'm not sure if the offer is just for one extra night or multiple nights. I wish I had kept the note they hung on our door but we were leaving and didn't take it with us. I wonder if anyone knows the answer to this?

I wouldn't recommend people risk changing their plans unless they really are that flexible and won't be disappointed if they don't get the special offer.

We stayed for 4 nights checking out on July 1 and we did receive this offer! :thumbsup2We did not use it:mad: and The paper work said for 1 night! I don't know if we would of gotten another offer after that!:confused3 and for what it's worth we did get a free upgrade to a DTD Fireworks view which was great!

Hotel experience seems to depend on place/time. I had a little bit of Disney Magic at PPH this time last year. We had bought picnic meals for WOC and ending up hitting an accident on the drive out which delayed us 3 hours and we weren't able to make it. I had mentioned it at check in, just making conversation. He upgraded us to a view room so we could try to catch the show - which was so nice and completely not expected. Once in the room - the phone rings and they were treating us to a character breakfast at any of the three hotels. Our missing the show had nothing to do with the hotel (or even Disney) and he simply said he wants to make sure everyone's trip is as magical as possible. We felt like we had been sprinkled with a little bit of pixie dust !!

It's unfortunate that DLR will not post better rates from the get go. I'm wondering how many people actually take the offer??? I've been an APH for the last 16 years. I remember they use to give out a calendar which would let APH know when they would offer an AP rate. It usually gave the $$$ amount.

I vaguely thought it was for one night only, thanks for confirming that.

We stayed 6 nights at the DLH in early May. We left on a Thursday and that's when we saw the offer. That would make sense for our stay since it was low occupancy, a large corporate group had just left the hotel and Thursday is usually a low occupancy night anyhow. I seriously doubt they would have given us the offer on the weekend.

Same here, got the $129 offer at the end of our DLH stay this June, and the $199 offer at the end of our GCH stay this May. It's indeed for one day only. I wouldn't bank on it happening all the time, though, just depends how real life demand looks like versus the demand they forecasted, something they don't know themselves until the last minute. FWIW it's not some kind of weird practice at all, a lot of "moderately expensive" to "high end" hotels do the same thing when demand falls short of forecasts.

IMO it would be worth the gamble if you're okay with potentially not getting the offer and moving to an offsite hotel (where there will pretty much always be something available) for the final day. Also FWIW I have a Premium AP but I doubt that factors in to whether DLR extends such an offer or not.

I agree. We were told by a bellman that it was very low occupancy when we were there in May. He also said that it hadn't been as full as they expected for the year thus far. We wondered if people were delaying their trips until Carsland was opened.

Yep we were told the same thing during our pre-Carsland trips. We're going again this weekend and the rep I spoke with over the phone said that despite Carsland, it's still slower than expected in general, although I'm sure that means "slower than we anticipated because we thought Carsland would bring Armageddon" as opposed to simply "slow." Guess we'll know in a day or so :)

It has been a couple of years, but we did get the offer to stay on our last day as well. (Disneyland Hotel) We had to get home so we could not use it. When our son took his family there a couple of years ago, they were upgraded from a room to a suite with a downtown disney view! the girls were in heaven with their own room all Mickey'd out :) I'm so glad that happened to them because it was the only trip they were ever able to make as a family so the girls will have awesome memories and pictures of that time with their daddy for when they are older too. We will be there in a couple of weeks but added the extra 3 nights there at the end of our stay over at the Park Vue. We have a non cancellable reservation in Sacramento after that so we can't use the offer if it is given....very bad planning on my part!! :(

We checked out of our good neighbor hotel on Tuesday July 2nd and noticed the crowd level to be very low. It had to be a 7 out of 10 in disneyland and maybe and 8 at best in DCA. I think alot of people might have been scared off at how crowded it might have been.

hubby just pointed out to me that we are staying in Gilroy for a night before we get to Sacramento, he said if we get the offer, we are cancelling the Garlic Festival and staying!! lol.... I would be disapointed to miss the garlic festival again but I would console myself with a nice drink from the Trader Sams and a swim :thumbsup2

We stayed at the Paradise Pier June 13 through 15. When we were leaving along with our folio that was shoved under our door was a letter offering an additional night for $109. We couldn't take them up on it, though.

So they don't make the offer til right when you're about to check out...man, that's be stressful.

I keep hoping that rates will actually drop for this stay, if occupancy is lower than expected.

In our case we were technically already checked out. We got our bill under the door during the night, checked it, got all packed to leave, called the bellman and as we were leaving saw the offer on the door.

So I guess if someone was hoping for it they should check their door before getting ready for check out.

We didn't get the offer last week. We specifically looked on Thursday morning as we were packing up (we wouldn't have stayed, but were curious).

We were there for 5 nights (checked in Saturday). At check in (at 4:30 AM!) we were able to get our room (MAJOR pixie dust after driving all night to learn my son missed his flight so we were stuck with no where to go that early). The CM told my husband they were only at 70% capacity.

We were at the DLH Saturday and Sunday night and are APs and didn't get an offer. They did tell us they were completely booked at check in (we had to wait for our room), so I wasn't expecting the offer although it would have been nice :goodvibes
