DLH – Water Pressure and Temperature

Hello. Last year we stayed at the DLH from November 29th until December 11th. The water pressure was not the greatest and that we could live with but we also had ice cold water for most days of our stay. We are now planning on going back to Disneyland later this year and although we loved everything else about the DLH we are worried about paying that price and getting icy cold water again. I did call the hotel a few days ago and was told it was likely because there were still some renovations happening in the building at that time. I was told they don’t get any more complaints like that BUT I do see on tripadvisor.com that there are some comments regarding the water.
Can anyone else comment on their experiences at the DLH?
Does Paradise Pier also have this type of issue? The Grand Californian?
What about off property hotels? Just wondering if this is a general issue for all the hotels in the area or just the DLH.
Would appreciate any feedback. Thank you!

We stayed at the DLH frontier tower Dec 19 through to Dec 26, we had a three room suite, plus an additional room, so, four bathrooms total, and no one had any issue with either water pressure or temp.

I cannot say that it won"t happen again, bad temps and water pressure, however construction could very well have made it an issue. Then again I have stayed in 5 star hotels and had the same issue. Generaly fixed very quickly mind you.

I have heard about this many time with off properties hotels, but never about onsite. I wouldn't worry about it.

We have stayed at all three hotels and have never had a problem with water temperature--there is always plenty of hot water for everyone in our group (and I have a teen daughter who takes half hour showers!). The only hotel that had slightly low water pressure was the Grand Californian. The DLH has always been great for water pressure and hot water for us.

I have not had that problem at DLH, but we did have wildly fluctuating water temps at our PPH room in January. It was so bad that I actually got burned--not to the point of needing to do anything about it, but just to where it hurt when it happened.

One time we did have an issue with our sink at DLH and complained about it down at the front desk. They upgraded us to a better room and gave us a bunch of fast passes PLUS a free character meal for the 5 of us!! Now that's customer service!! So, if you happen to get another room with ice cold water, don't be shy about taking your problem down to the front desk and asking to speak to a manager. I didn't do that at PPH so I don't know if they would have given us a different room or what, but we only had one more day on our reservation so it didn't seem big enough to bother with.

I stayed at the DLH with my boyfriend in January and I don't recall any problems with water temperature or pressure. I don't know how true this is, but I read somewhere (most likely on these boards) that the water pressure and temperature depend on how close you are to the ground floor. The lower you are, the better the pressure and temp. If you were on a higher floor last time maybe you could request a lower floor? Also, don't be afraid to tell the front desk if you have any problems, as the PP said.

I can't comment on any of the other hotels because we've only stayed at the DLH.

Thanks for the info. Maybe we just weren't effective enough when we complained. After the first few nights we did go and complain. Very nice lady (cast member) said she understood, that she had heard there was a broken water pipe and that it would be fixed. We got to our room that night and there were strawberries and cider waiting for us. That was VERY nice. And we had warm water for the next few days. Then back to ice for several days. When we complained again we were not treated very nicely. This lady told us that she knew about our first complaint and that engineering had investigated and found no issue. I honestly felt like she was calling me a liar. She then offered to move us but it was after 9 nights of a 12 night stay and insisted that if we were going to move it had to be within the hour (and we had reservations for a character breakfast). Sigh. Later we talked to cast members who told us that they get some people who complain just because they think they will get something out of it. I understand they must deal with a lot but we weren't making it up!
I think we will give it another shot. We absolutely LOVED everything else about the DLH.

I've stayed at the DLH a few times and never had a problem with the water. There has always been plenty of hot water to go around and the pressure to me was fine. I have crap pressure at home, so anything more than a trickle gets me excited, lol!

I say try it again!

I stayed at DLH in 08" I didn't have a issue with the water pressure but did have a problem with the shower head. It seemed like it was put in place for Snow Whites dwarfs to shower in. I don't know if this was fixed by the renovations but, I never have booked there again on the account of the shower head.

I have stayed at the Disneyland hotel three times and have had water pressure/tempeture problems two of the times. In 2009 we did not have any water at all one day because a pipe burst. It did not get fixed and they ended up moving us to a room at Paradise Pier. In May 2011 we had a problem with the hot water. We had no hot water the first night of our stay about 8pm.. I called the front desk and she said that the hotel used a a boiler for hot water (yes this was after the remodel) and that during times that a lot of guests take showers that the hotel tends to run out of hot water. We did have hot water about two hours later. Four days later when we got up at 4:30am to get ready for out 10 hour drive home we had no hot water. I called the front desk and they were very rude. They acually asked me if I knew how to turn the shower knob to hot water. I emplained that I knew how to use a shower and that I needed hot water for my families drive home. The front desk said someone from maintenance would call me. I got a call about ten minutes later from someone who explained that they had turned the boiler off the night before for contruction maintenance. I had no hot water until 6am. They did offer to take $100 of my hotel bill.

I stayed in the DLH at the end of February, and there was no shortage of hot water, and the water pressure was about as good as I expected (given the water restrictions and showerheads with flow regulators).

Long, long post-park showers each night and no problems.

We have stayed at all of the Disney Hotels and never had a problem of any kind. The rooms are always spotless, well kept, and disney top to bottom. If there ever was a problem, I know the staff would take care of it immediately.....................:cool1:

I love that everyone is so willing so share their experiences. This was my first post and I'm really pleased with how many folks responded. Thank you. I guess I KNOW that any hotel can have issues and if I trusted that they would handle it nicely I wouldn't worry so much. We were treated very rudely the second time we had to complain. And I don't expect that when I'm trying to immerse myself in "magic".

But a day a Disneyland is better than a day anywhere else even if it means a cold shower to start the day.

I will continue to watch the reviews on tripadvisor and posts here. I have already made the reservation at the DLH but If I decide to change I still have time. Not going until November.

I was there this Mon-Wed and I noticed a similar problem. The water pressure seemed really low the whole time and on the last day the water wasn't quite cold but it wasn't hot enough for me. I had the water turned up as hot as it would go and it felt warm but not hot.
