I am planning either a Nov or early Dec 2024 holiday to DL coming all the way from Australia. I would really like peoples ideas as to whether I should book a Disney Vacation package through a US Disney specialist travel agent or should I just book the components myself. We are considering staying at either the Tropicana or the Best Western Plus Park Place Inn. I am a Best Western member so may end up getting quite a good members discount from them. I can also get very greatly discounted 5 day park hopper discount tickets only available to Australlians through Klook. Is there any advantage to booking through an agent or am I better to do it all myself. I know that if a discount comes up before my actual booking that an agent can apply that to my booking so is that worth letting them handle it all for me. I'd love peoples feedback, thanks.

The time I had a travel agent book a Disneyland trip, it was one problem after another. The trip turned into a NIGHTMARE! But at least we were at Disneyland.... I feel better doing my own booking now. I know what is done and what needs to be done. I also found doing my own booking saves me money.

We like staying a the Tropicana, so close to the parks! When staying at the Tropicana - 1. Book Early! right when the calendar opens for your dates. 2. Check often to see if the rates have gone down since booking and request an adjustment to reservation. I have had the rates go down as many as 3 times before my trip, saving even more money. Tropicana also has a 5night special rate.

Happy Planning

Thanks Geemo, thats what I am leaning towards. I usually always book all my holidays myself so I am confident doing that I just thought that seeing as the packages were opening up it might be something to consider. Having said that it probably is worthwhile if you are staying at a Disneyland hotel and not planning on staying at one of the neighbourhood ones. Looks like the Tropicana won't open up until twelve months out so thats fine, I'll just wait.

I don't see either the Tropicana or the BWPPI on Disney's page about Good Neighbor Hotel packages, but even if they are available, I've never considered the packages to be particularly beneficial. I guess you get a souvenir pin and some purchase discounts, but you also risk losing a couple hundred dollars if you have to cancel within a month of your visit (and losing everything if it's within five days). If all you need are a hotel and DL tickets/reservations, that seems easy enough to handle on your own.
