DL TS Restaurants Aren't Speaking To Me

I'm planning my day at DL, and have an early dinner reservation at Center Street Coffeehouse, mostly to try the Baymax Curry. But, it looks like Hungry Bear has more interesting curries (if that's what we want), and DL's QS places are much more interesting than its TS options. I don't need to do Blue Bayou (done it at DLR several times), Crystal Palace will be closed during my visit (and I don't like buffets anyway), and the other TS options look ordinary. I'm usually not a QS person, as I love TS time at WDW and DLR, but I'm thinking of going all QS at DL. Am I missing something?

That's what we just ended up doing on our trip! Honestly, we had great meals and really enjoyed our food! But I felt the exact same way you do! Maybe I missed something but not much appealed to us either for TS. We did walk up one day (out of 4) and eat at Restaurant Hokusai which was good.

Thanks. I just need some reassurance.

We have the VP with unlimited attractions, so we plan on rope-dropping the Great American Waffle Company first thing in the morning.

We have the same VP and also plan to rope drop the waffles. It is so funny to hear someone else has the same plan. I also have a reservation for the Baymax curry but it is the only TS we plan to do our three days in the parks. What are the days of you VP?

One night VP, April 1 (DL) and 2 (DS).

We're lucky enough that our first day, 3/31, happens to be the last day we can get the Fantasy Springs Magic Passport, so we're going to do DS that day, with FS, dining, and park atmosphere/shows being a priority. We'll do the rides on our VP DS day, and we also have that third night reserved at FSH. All three nights at FSH, actually.

Oh wow, we will be at DS on 3/31 also! Our vacation package starts on 4/3 but just today (after many many weeks of obsessive refreshing) I managed to book FSH for one night checking in on 3/30, the day we arrive in Tokyo. I am so excited to be able to buy the special ticket for 3/31 with the plan to spend most of the day in the Fantasy Springs area and then return to FSH for our vacation package a few days later. So excited!

We disembark our cruise early on the morning of the 31st and will high-tail it over to TDR via cab. I figure we can be in the park by 10, do FS with our Passport, then spend the rest of the day wandering the park and soaking up the atmosphere. We have a 4:40 dinner at Magellan’s, and then the 7PM Sea of Dreams show. The next day will be Day One of our VP, at DL.

Which cruise are you doing? I love cruising as much as I love Disney.

Japan in Bloom, Tokyo-Tokyo on Regent Seven Seas Explorer, with the three-day Tokyo land package before.

We planned our TDR visit for after the cruise to avoid most of the Spring Break crowds. Looks like our week is going to have "normal" crowds.

You know we're going to be there during peak cherry blossom season!

Your cruise sounds fantastic. The cherry blossoms will be wonderful to see. We are starting our adventure in Bali and Thailand with Tokyo being our final stop. Can actually count the days on my fingers now until we leave. Hope you have a great cruise!

That sounds wonderful too!

We’re doing the World Cruise with Regent in ‘27, and will get to Bali and Thailand then. Really looking forward to that one.

Enjoy your trip!

Hungry Bear is great, and I would definitely recommend it for one of your meals.

DL doesn't have many TS restaurants, and I think DS has the better ones. I don't think you'll miss anything going only QS for the day.

I'm leaning towards all QS at DL. I don't think the Center Street Coffeehouse offers that much to draw me in, at the cost of missing some of the more interesting QS.

At DS, I have dinner reservations at Magellan's on one night and Cannaletto on the other. I'm not overly concerned about food quality of the latter, but the atmosphere, especially on the patio, looks off the charts. Am I missing any other notable TS places at DS? Unfortunately, Columbia and Teddy Roosevelt Lounge will be closed when we're there, as those would've been right up my alley.

I think those two are perfect. Magellan's goes above and beyond what you'd ever imagine for a Disney restaurant.

I'll be honest, even though the decor looks beautiful, the food photos don't look very inspiring. I know photos don't do a lot of things justice, so I'm still excited to try this, as the reviews are consistently superb.

I don't find the food at Magellan's particularly special compared to what you could get outside the park at a luxury hotel or something. But if you don't dine at high end restaurants often and are use "theme park food" as the benchmark, it's a unique experience that's worth trying.
