Hi all--

We are planning a surprise trip to DL on Oct 8-10 for our two kids. I was wondering if any of you remember if DL offers any ticket discounts for that time. Their current ticket promotion ends before we arrive.

Also, what are your opinions on a rental car from Ontario Airport vs. Super Shuttle? We will be staying at HOJO.

Thanks in advance for the info!

There is this offer: 2009 Park Hopper Bonus Tickets

Almost all ticket promotions are limited to SoCal/Baja Cal residents only. They have promotions online for purchasing tickets in advance that are for everybody. I think, given the economy, they might also re-institute special hotel/deal tickets that don't have residency restrictions.

If you check out gisele's link, you scroll down past the ending-in-september prices, and you'll see that there's still a nice discount off of gate prices for buying tix online.

Also, remember that if you know someone in the SoCal area, you could get aps from Costco for your family members for not much more than a hopper. You could also buy them enroute if you wanted to make that stop. They cost $269 (no tax) and come with a $50 gift card for EACH one you buy. That's an extra $200 for food or whatever. If you plan to return any time within a year (we decided to go back just before our aps expired the next year), it is well worth it and makes the next trip really cheap! Well, relatively speaking :rotfl: The aps are good for everyone, not just socal people, but can only be purchased in central-southern ca. They need to be activated by Oct. 31.

The caveat is that you may find, like I did, that it's just too tempting to have an ap and not go more often than you originally planned :goodvibes

You also get 10% off food with an ap--it adds up for a family over 3 days! You just have to remember to use it! I almost kicked my own rear when we left Blue Bayou and I suddenly realized I could have gotten 10% off our dinner. Doh! They'll even give you the discount at many of the vending carts, and sometimes you can get a discount on merchandise. I always ask, just in case ;)

Try arestravel.com they seem to have great ticket rates......about 35 dollars off gate price I think. I am getting my entire package through them in October for less then $800.00.

gay days tickets at a discount for when you will be there Im sure they are cheaper then anything else. I do not think you can upgrade them though.

Does anyone know if you have to pick up the tickets from gay days at the convention, or if they have a print at home option? I was going to help my friend get these, but not if we have to pick them up at the convention, because we won't be at the convention:thumbsup2

The tickets are about $25 less than the preorder online price, so would save you about $100 for your family.

By the way, we are from Mukilteo and will also be there Oct. 8-Oct.11th.

Two Moms and two little boys celebrating fall bdays. It is also a surprise trip for our boys.

So let me get this straight.

I can fly into LAX, swing through a Costco and pick up AP's and use them at DL/CA?
Are these blackout APs or good for any day? How much are they?

Anybody have a link to more info regarding this Costco AP deal, I can't find it on the Costco site.

They aren't sold on the Costco site, unfortunately.

There's a big thread here, there's a thread on mouseplanet's boards...

So Cal Costcos have Deluxe AP vouchers for sale. You buy them (same cost as a Deluxe AP bought at the parks or on disneyland.com), you take them to the parks. Stop at the ticket booth or guest services, they give you an AP voucher, and a $50 Disney Gift Card. You enter DL and that day go to the AP center to get your picture taken etc for your proper AP card.

The Deluxe AP does have blockout dates, and you can find those by going to the AP info section on disneyland.com. If your trip starts on a blockout date, you can redeem your voucher on that date and as a courtesy you'll be allowed to enter, stay, and hop to the other park. If there's a blockout date *later* in your trip, you'll need to stay out of the parks, pay $40 per person for a blockout pass, or just go ahead and upgrade to a Premium (no blockout dates, higher food discount, has merchandise discount) AP.

To add to what Molly (bumbershoot) said, the blockout days for Deluxe passes are: every Sat. in July and the first 3 Sats in Aug. (1st, 8th, 15th), the 5th and 6th of Sept, and none in Oct. It's pretty easy to work around unless you have little time/flexibility with your schedule.

If you wanted to stay in a DLR hotel because the ap rates are good for that time, call and reserve, asking for the ap8 rate (is that the current one?). You don't have to have the ap yet. After you pick up your Costco vouchers the hotel will let you check in and will give you time to activate them. Of course, if you don't activate your ap by the time you leave, you'll pay the regular hotel rate, but of course you're going to activate it or you wouldn't be able to get into DL :lmao:

bluegrizzlies, I forgot all about the Gay Days tickets!! I bought those a few years ago and saved a bundle. OP, if it works for your time period, do it!

Anyone can buy gay day tickets just remember that the first day of the tickets has to be used by oct 11, 2009

You people are awesome!

BTW, kids and I went to the Disney train for the movie A Christmas Carol. Very cool stuff. The 3-D preview was pretty cool too.

Where did you get that information? On the site it quotes: All of these tickets expire on the third day after the last day of the specified convention from my understanding the Gay Days is October 2nd to 4th, then the tickets would expire on the 7th right?:confused3

I would love to be able to buy these tickets as they are a pretty good discount. Our dates are October 5th to 9th....would these tickets work for us? I'm a bit confused... ;)

Maybe Im not explaining this very well tickets at these prices are good from 9-27-09 till 10-11-09.

What this means is your first day you go to the parks has to be from 9-27-09 to 10-11-09.

After your first day you have 12 days after that to use the rest of your park hopper.

No you actually explained it well, I just can't find that information any where and it conflicts with what the disney site says. I want to be 100% sure these tickets will work for us if we purchase them.

:)
