Our entire family has WDW APs. I am the only one who upgraded my WDW AP to a Premier Pass (WDW and DL admission.) It was only $201 to upgrade and $184 for a 3-day DL park hopper. So for the extra $17, I'll get all the dining and merchandise discounts during our August DL trip.
We decided that we would not upgrade my husband's and kids' WDW APs. We are just getting 3-day DL park hoppers for them. So that's why we have the question about delivery method (e-ticket vs. mail.)
I'm a little hesitant about the call to DL to sort out the e-ticket vs. mail issue because the last time I called DL to ask about AP room discounts, the CM told me the Premier Pass (for both DL and WDW) did not exist. Maybe that's just because the Premier is so new, and the CMs would be more familiar with the e-ticket vs. mail ticket options. So I was hoping that someone had personal experience with this. But if not, we'll just go with mail delivery and know that we are ready to go when we arrive!
Oh, okay, that makes sense - I figured someone in your family had to already have WDW APs or Hoppers in order for the Premier AP purchase to make sense - and that was a really great idea to get one Premier for the sake of the DLR discounts. Those discounts come in so handy, especially for the character meals and at the DLR hotels!! I really felt the sting of not having an AP last year when I went to my beloved Goofy's Kitchen. Even though I still eat there without an AP, I enjoy it so much more with that AP discount. Good thinking on getting the Premier!
By the way, Pixarmom, I thought of you the other day because I was trying to get another Catalina trip in works for myself, and I remembered that you love Catalina (and the Metropole) as I do!!
Okay, so to your original question - have you already received your Premier? If so, it sounds as if the only thing you need to do is get the Hoppers for your family and then swap the print outs for regular tickets, and that would not have anything to do with the Premier pass, unless I missed something somewhere. So can the GCH take the e-mail print-outs for you and give the you the regular Hoppers? Well, I am pretty sure the
front desk can
not do it. The front desk can sell you Hoppers and tickets, but they generally don't handle swapping the e-tickets for hard tickets. You have to do that at a turnstile. Now the question is whether or not it has to be done at the main DCA turnstile or can it be done the GCH/DCA turnstile. I can't say for
certain - like Skiingfast said, I've never seen it come up. That doesn't mean it can't be done, though. It is a turnstile, after all. The CM at that GCH/DCA turnstile
should have the same capabilities to take the e-tickets and hand over regular tickets as the CMs at the other turnstiles. They should have the same scanner doodad. I bet they can! I don't see why they wouldn't be able to do it at all. In any case, you don't need a ticket window/booth to get real tickets for the e-tickets. You just need a turnstile.
Oh, and be sure to have your room keys (Key to the Magic) with you at all times when using that DCA entry from the GCH. It used to be that you only had to show it first thing in the morning to access that entrance and then anyone (even non hotel guests) could exit and enter during the day without having to show a key, but there have been more recent reports from people that since WoC began, the CMs at that entrance are not letting everyone in and out and are asking to see the Keys all day long. I don't know if this is always the case now, or if it will happen when you are there, but keep the room keys handy just in case.
