So I checked at the park is open until midnight. So does anyone know if the character goodnight that has previously been at 9 will be at 9 or when the park closes at midnight? I am assuming they are staying open later this year than previous?

Thanks for info. We have a five and ten year old we were planning our evening meal around to make it to this event. :santa:

This is an unoffical thing, they have done at park closing on Christmas Eve. They may or may not do it but if they do, do it, my guess is that it will be at park closing.

Sadly, if they do it at park closing, the majority of little ones will miss out. I am HOPING they start it at 8 or 9, like they have in the past.

I sure hope that it is going to be at 8 or 9 despite the park closing at midnight. We have been looking forward to this since we planned our trip. This makes me upset that there is a chance that it will either be WAY later or not happen at all.

I knew that this was an unofficial event, that's why I was asking on this board. LOL. But like I say, I was planning our evening around it. We are going with another family and my 16 yr old and I have been planning surprises for their lil ones left and right and this was one of them. It has been fun though. Candy Canes were another one, but so far the last day they make them is the day we fly in :-( So two of our plans could be washed down the drain. Bummer. We've been planning this trip for two years.

You might try asking at City Hall on the 24th when / if they plan to do this. If anyone would know, they should.

As much as I enjoy Disneyland CMs, I can't agree that they would be the ones who know. An example, none would tell you the IASWH lighting that happens after the last parade, generally every 15 mins or so. They MIGHT know, but I wouldn't guarantee it.

So ideas for little ones? The Holiday Lighting at IASW, expect it at night on the quarter hours. Really good for the little ones. Of course the reindeer back at Big Thunder, and all the other fun things that happen there. Tree lighting usually happens right at 5pm. There are so many things going on for little ones!

So how do you really find out about the little "not officially scheduled events" such as the tree lighting, the IASWH lighting, any little skits that go on around the park, etc. I know the Disney calendar puts the "big" things with times, but what about the more personable "homey" type things....want to make sure we are able to see as much as possible and not acting as if we are wandering aimlessly having no idea what is going on...then get home and realize we missed so so much.

A lot, not all, of the smaller things are listed on the entertainment schedule you get at the parks. Sometimes it is just the luck of the draw that you happen upon things. Or get insider information from the DIS. ;)

That's what I was trying to do when I started this thread. LOL I will have to just go at 9:00 then if it doesn't happen again at midnight if we can keep the youngest up!

One little piece of advice, HANG ON TO THE KIDS! It will be crowded, and I have seen people get swept up and separated. Last year, I saw poor Mickey and Minnie pinned and they had to wait for a handler to come help them out of the crowd.
