DL next spring or wait for GCV

Hi everyone! My current plan is to go to DL for my first visit this coming spring. My plan is to use my points to stay at one of the hotels. Well now that it is time for me to make the reservation, I have been debating whether I should wait until GCV is open and then hope to stay there.

What are your thoughts?

I have been debating it because if I wait, will I really be able to get a studio or 1 BR at 7 months? And if I can't get a GCV room at 7 months, will the points costs be higher at the hotels since there is now a DVC on site?

If I book at GCH before the villas open on points (booking for 2010 March) early at the 11 mos. timeframe, will I still be able to keep the ressie once the villas are open?

Of course. I don't see Disney cancelling any existing reservations.

The problem may be that they won't let you book regular hotel rooms. The "unofficial" point chart floating around has an asterisk stating that stays at GCV are available thru 12/31/09.

I doubt DVC will have a points schedule for the DLR at the 11 month time frame. That would mean they would have the points schedule in Apr '09 and it would be very unusual for DVC to have them that far in advance.
Also, they should know by APR '09 exactly what the opening date for GCV is going to be--it is supposed to open Fall '09. Past policy has been no more points stays at hotels which have CO-DVC property once the DVC property opens. ( I don't know if the policy will change because there are so few GCV rooms )
