I know at Disneyworld there are set times of year that the signature restaurants tend to swap their menus. Does anyone know if something similar happens at Disneyland? do you think it's likely menus for the start of April will be the same as they currently are? finally does anyone have a good suggestion for a special meal for my twin brother and my 30th birthday? my parents have offered to take our families out to celebrate so I want to choose something nice but not overly expensive! My brother and I are both really into food, but our partners are less adventurous and we will be dining with an 8 year old so something in the middle would be awesome!

thanks for any help offered!

I would assume the menus get updated seasonally. If you look at the Carthay Circle menu, there are several items that winter themed. It also probably depends on which restaurant. Rancho del Zocalo's menu has been pretty constant over the years but they often have a seasonal dessert ot something like that.

For your birthday celebration, how about Blue Bayou?

Carthay Circle and Napa Rose change the menu around March to the spring/summer menu.

Other than that, most menus will be the same.

We did a World Of Color dinner package at Carthay Circle and loved the beautiful restaurant and menu had lots of options (though it is reduced for the WOC package) like duck, fish, even a burger! They'll obviously be changing the menu, since several things are "winter" specific. .. but I bet the new menu will sound delicious, too! And you can probably wait to make a reservation until the spring menu comes out, that restaurant is huge, and I think it had an outdoor seating area that I didn't see even see! Plus they have awesome cocktails and the lounge downstairs might be another option for something even less formal. I keep meaning to drop by there... From the mixed reviews I've noticed, it appears that the kitchen and/or service is likely to be more consistent at Napa Rose, which also has a very interesting menu. I'd go for either of those places OR Blue Bayou in DL! Blue Bayou is super fun, but has a smaller menu. The chicken was delicious! Have fun planning!

As mentioned, Carthay Circle has seasonal menus. They don't change right with the start of the season, so it's hard to say when they'll switch to the Spring Menu.

For a special meal in the parks, I would also go with Blue Bayou or Carthay Circle, but both are on the pricier side. I think there is more to interest a child at Blue Bayou (in terms of atmosphere), especially if you request a waterside table at check-in and are willing to wait. Otherwise, for a more moderately priced meal, I would consider Cafe Orleans (not fancy, but more of a fun place).

thanks for all your helpful info about menus and suggestions! I remember going to Blue Bayou when I was little and was SO disappointed not to get to sit anywhere near the water! I still don't think my dad would be willing to wait, so perhaps Ill check out Carthay Circle!

Does it have to be dinner? If you're willing to have a birthday lunch, then you can make an ADR for the first lunch seating at Blue Bayou (normally around 11:30 am). In almost all cases, guests with a first lunch seating tend to be seating at the waterside (or very near). Still, make sure to request it when you check-in to be safe.
