For those who do DisneyLand pretty frequently maybe you will have more insight?

We are thinking of doing a Cali trip with Disneyland 3-4 nights, then on to yosemite and san fran.

What do you think would be busier at DL...June or August? Or would they be about the same?

Depends when you go.

Early June is known as "June gloom" so the weather is cooler/cold in the morning but the sun comes out by 11-12pm, most or all of the rides are open, and the park has extended hours. It's a wonderful time!

I would think August in general would be busier because people are trying to fit in a last minute trip to Disneyland before school starts. College over here 45 minutes north of Disneyland starts mid-August. August is also hotter!

Hard question, and depends on whether you mean early or late June.

Early June will be the least crowded of all, but will also have shorter park hours and limited shows on weekdays.

Come June 11 DL itself will be extra crowded with the opening of the Nemo Sub ride. This will last until at least June 29 until AP holders are blocked out. After that I would expect crowds to be typical summer crowds with long lines for Nemo remaining all summer. On June 22 parks hours go to max for the rest of the summer. After June 15 Fantasmic is back. Anytime after June 11 I would recommend going on weekdays only. And I would avoid the week of June 11 because that is when Nemo opens.

So, if you want the lowest crowds go before June 11 but accept limited show schedule and no Nemo ride or Fantasmic at all. If you want more show access, to see Fantasmic and ride Nemo, go on weekdays on June 18 or thereafter.

This summer August might be little less crowded than the last half of June, but no one knows for sure. We are going the last week of June and I would prefer August this summer but could not make it in August.

We went early in June a few years ago, the June Gloom did not bother us too much, except for when we tried to go to the beach. The crowds were not TOO bad either, all though they were definately there!

Although this year we would not be able to go til later in June, so the crowds would be worse I am sure.

The heat by Calif. standards does not bother us Texans!

Wondered if the crowds thinned out- say mid August?

Thanks for you help!

We have done both and prefer mid-late August. The heat does not affect us and the crowds are managable but very busy on the weekend.

Early June or late August are both not too bad, though anytime in August will be more crowded than in June. If I had to choose between the two, I would pick June. And even if you go at a time when the show/parade schedule isn't as heavy, as long as you go on a Friday, Saturday, or a Sunday, you should be able to catch everything that you want to.

Well if we went in June it would have to be REALLY early in June, before the 10th. But I would like to see Nemo and I love the DL version of Fantasmic.

In August I was thinking of sometime 11-18th (DS bday, and just before school starts). Just do not want it to be SO packed, But park hours are not out yet for that week, so I can not use them to judge.

August 11 is a Saturday, and the week prior to that is the last week that the APs are blocked out. So if you got there like on the 14th, the crowds probably will have died down a bit. A lot of schools will start back that week. If you could hold off until about the 20th, it would be even less crowded. But we've gone on or within a few days of the 11th for the past few years, and it is always massively crowded still.

I always like June. So thats my vote. I don't do the shows or fireworks so it's not a prob for me. It's also cooler so thats nice. The crowds aren't bad either.

The problem with August and going just before school starts is that is what a bunch of people decide to do.
You just have to keep in mind if you go then that there may be a lot of kids and crowds.
