I just started considering a DL trip (our 1st) in Sept. I know that at WDW, Sept. after labor day weekend is about the quietest time of year. But I read that Sept. is "moderate" season at DL? Is this true? It will likely be our only trip ever to DL, so I don't want to go at a time when it will be crowded. We would be there Sept. 16, 17, 18 and 19 (Th.-Sun.) What do you think?

Oh, yes, it's absolutely low season. We like to go the last week in September, and the last time we didn't wait longer than 20 minutes in any line. However, please note that the Haunted Mansion closes at the beginning of September to do its holiday makeover, and doesn't re-open until the first of October. Also, the Tiki Room will close in the beginning of September for what is reported to be a two-month rehab.

We went in Sept. a few years ago-- no crowds at all. Mostly families with infants, since school aged kids were back at school. We were a little disappointed with the park closing early -- no fireworks & no shows & seems like a quarter of the park was closed for "seasonal cleaning". If no crowds are your priority it's a great time to go; however I wouldn't recommend it.

We went in Sept. a couple of years ago, other then the fact that the Haunted mansion was closed we noticed very little difference. The shows and fireworks are at a min. if at all and the park closes early but, to me the lack of crowds makes up for it. We didn't even have to use fast pass, except for California Soarin' in DCA where it is always busy. I would recommend it in a heart beat.

That said though I like May better because most things are geared up because Spring Break is behind them and Summer coming fast. The weather is great and they do have the occasional show and fireworks to practice for summer.

I think if Sept. I when you can get a way you won't be disappointed.

Thanks everyone. I'm glad to hear crowds are low that time of year. My daughters will be off from school Sept. 16 and 17, for Jewish holiday. I thought that would be a great time to go, as most of the country probably is not off from school those two days. I guess it all depends on the airfare I can get though, that will make or break us.
How is the weather in mid Sept.?

In 2002, it was cool but not cold for most of the time we were there. It may have gotten down to the 50's one day, with some misting that I wouldn't really have called rain. I think it was atypical, though, because I've heard that it's hot normally.

That said though I like May better

hugabearjo, when in May do you like? Is there a time in May that is as uncrowded as September?

Ugh, that's not good. Is there a rehab schedule anywhere for DL and DCA? I know they have them for WDW.
