DL hours and crowds in October...

I just got back from Disneyland last week and it was CROWDED!!! I'm thinking of going again in October 2008. What are the crowds and park hours for both DL and DCA like in October?

I believe the parks are open until 8P in October. They probably stay open later during the weekends. I'm not sure how the crowds are (the last time I went in Oct. was 1999.) I'm curious about it too.

I asked the CM when I called to book our vacation package, but she was a little elusive. She was very friendly, but said something like, "We here at Disney like to think EVERY day is a popular day!"

Most likely, the crowds will pale in comparison to the crowds that you just experienced. Lines will be 20 minutes instead of 60 or walk ons instead of 30.

The first 2-3 weeks are pretty crowded because of school fall breaks and gay days. After that it's not too bad but still not super slow b/c of the halloween stuff, especially Mickey's Halloween Treat. I don't know how those busier weeks compare to summer though, but I'm guessing even then it's not as bad as peak summer season or the hours would reflect it.

I am going in October, too. I thought the crowds would be fewer then but now after looking into it some more I think November may have been a better time, crowd-wise.

We went last year during October (the last week) and had a great time. Lines were not too bad and the atmosphere was wonderful!!! We are going back this year just a week sooner.

We went last year the first week in Oct. and it was great! We were there during the week so the park hours were 10-8 at DL and 10-6 at DCA. The lines were minimal and on our second day(Tues) almost everything was a walk on! I'm sure the weekends are more crowded with more locals coming for the halloween festivities. This year we're going the second week in Oct. and we've added Sun into our schedule so we can see fireworks and F! This is also Columbus day weekend so we are expecting heavier crowds but Sun we'll only be there for the shows and Mon we'll be at DCA where we expect the crowds won't be as bad and then Tues and Wed we expect shouldn't be too bad at DL. All in all for us it's a great time of year to go with fun Halloween decor, manageable crowds and great weather!

Thanks to everyone who responded.....DL closing at 8? CA Adventure at 6? What a JOKE!!! My daughter goes to bed at 8 which means my mom and I wouldn't be able to go back to the parks.I guess I'll just have to find another time to go.

We always stick to fall for our trips (typically) since we can't stand crowds. I have most of this written down for scrapbook, so here it is -

Hours in October for us have been 10am to 8pm (6pm for DCA) on Monday thru Thurs. Friday was 10pm close (8pm DCA.) Sorry I can't recall Saturday exactly but I believe the opening was 8am or 9am and close at 10pm, same with Sunday but the close was 8pm.

That's been the case for us since 2004.
