DL hotels vs off site

I will give you one reason that staying off site is better:

One is you get fantastic hotels like the hojo who don’t charge an arm and a leg to park !

:woohoo:

:yay:

ok yes i am re-wqouting myself..but i had another thought to my reply.

the disneyland site hotels do offer alot, but when it comes down to pennies and nickels, they charge soo much .. the resort fee is out of this world.. i am such a penny pincher that i would rather sacrifice view for affordability and go with the hojo or candy cane inn..:cutie:

On site has little magical extras, like you can request a birthday pin, autographed picture of disney characters and balloons upon check-in (free of charge).

Also, you can order gift baskets from VP to be placed in your room (they also deliver to some GN hotels, where they will leave them at the front desk), and through disney dining you can order milk and cookies to be waiting for you in your room when you return (or Mikcey krispy treats, choc. covered strawberries, etc.) that is always a nice surprise for my group as well.

So who do I call about adding these features? I'd love to have a few things available for my DD4 when we arrive!

Are there other pins available?

I would be interested in recommendations for an offsite hotel that you can walk to Disneyland from. We are a family of 4 and would be staying for 4 nights before our Disney cruise in late January.

If I could get a good deal on Grand Californian, I would consider staying there but right now, its only 10% off the rate for annual passholder. Not much of a deal. So looking at offsite hotel options and interested in recommendations.

There are quite a number of current threads on this very topic. Howard Johnson's remains a favorite for many on this board as well as a personal favorite. Candy Cane Inn is another favorite. Use the search function and see what everyone is saying about these and other walking distance hotels.
