I would like to visit Disneyland in 2010 and stay at the Grand Californian Villas. I want to stay 1 week (Saturday to Friday) in June. I realize the number of units is limited, and I will be booking at the 7-month window because I am not going to be an owner (just added on at AKV and BLT).
My question is: Can I book a cash reservation at one of the hotels and convert it to a points reservation if the GCV doesn't come through? I don't want to book the hotel room with points as a backup, because the vacation points are converted to reservation points and cannot be converted back to DVC points if I don't need the hotel (if I understand the rules correctly). Also, am I correct the 4 month rule does not apply to DL hotels?
Do you think GC will continue to be available via points once the villas are available?
